Still going strong on my journey to play games I missed out on during my childhood and teenage years. And for the first time, I finished Redneck Rampage... I played the demo as a teen, but it didn’t really win me over back then. But I had a blast — gameplay was tricky because I tried to go for the "traditional" experience without switching to WASD controls... but I caved in. What a fun game! Of course, in the pace of Doom clones, it really stands out for its "originality". You got hillbillies fighting aliens... And the soundtrack alone is worth it — I laughed a lot. Great game... spent more time on it than I expected... now that I know it better, I’d probably cut 4 hours off the playthrough. But it was totally worth it. I’ll be making a video review soon!
The campaign doesn’t really teach you what things do, which can leave you feeling lost at times. It just says “build this,” and you’re left to figure out how it works on your own. It took me a while to understand the game’s verticality and how much it actually affects gameplay. It was kind of depressing to dominate the surface... only to be crushed by the mole people right after. Still, it’s a great game, and the soundtrack is really good. I definitely recommend it!
