First...be aware there is a sound glitch in which all sentences spoken by the characters is cut off. Another problem is movement is awkward...not free form but you have to take path which have you bumping into walls all the time if you don't get it right...stupid. The story is boring, the acting is terrible, etc. But the creepiest part of this game is encountering non-interactive people just standing around like statues. If you click on one of these people-statues you can turn them around in half circles but nothing else. It is like playing with propped up dead bodies...creepy to the max! Another glitch I encountered was speaking to a passenger while walking on the deck. I clicked on him (I had spoken to him earlier and apparently he didn't want to have anything more to do with me) and his image pops up (which is what happens when you converse) and he tells me to get lost (don't remember the exact words) and he tries to leave. But since I was so close to him he kept doing this over and over and over...about a dozen time in all before I could finally escape this glitch and move on. Anyway, this game is not for me. I wish I had remembered how bad it was back when I originally played it. About the only game in this genre from this time period that I liked and still play are the Tex Murphy games. Remember folks...this is MY opinion. You don't have to agree with me. If you don't that's fine. You may like this game. But I think if you're the type of game who like the Tex Murphy series, or The Last Express, etc. then you won't care for this dud.
SimCity 4 was an improvement on graphics only, not gameplay. SimCity 3000 is the version that should be offered on this site. SimCity 4 has too much micromanagement. It plays just like previous versions but lacks the fun factor. Your cities in SimCity 4 never seem to be able to grow much before you run out of money and issues demanding your attention become a distraction rather than a managable problem. SimCity 3000 was fun to play and you could actually grow your city to an impressive level unlike this game. Please, GOG, release the FUN version of SimCity...SimCity 3000!
Old gamers know this is NOT a good one. Shouldn't be available here. Nuff said.
Almost all the new titles coming out are $9.99 up to $19.99!!! What happened to releasing good old games at a DIRT CHEAP price???!!!
The age of Myst has long run it's course by the time this game was released. The first game was compelling as it was around the time game were first being released on CDs and were "photorealistic". Now we know Myst was basically just changable wallpaper. It was fun it it's day and time but soon lost its appeal. The creators of the game knew this and tried to make the world more "real" by making them a bit more interactive but not very succesfully. Time has past by this game series and SOMETIMES you can't go back to the past and enjoy your experience back in time. This is one of those sometimes.
Wish I had caught the other review warning that this game is broken. Wish I could get a refund or they need to fix it...NOW!
I love adventure games but can never finish one without hints. This review is for those that fall into that category. You likely won't be able to finish the game or fully understand what is going on. But the atmosphere and "look" of the game is so unique that you'll end up spending a lot of time playing without frustration. Some of the fun parts: Being able to search all the nooks and cranies. Eavesdropping on everyone's conversations. Trying to sneak into places you aren't supposed to be by outsmarting the conductor. Just feeling like you are really on this train. I've played this game for hours and I'm slowly progressing but even helps don't hint a lot because this games is not linear and a lot is happening at the same time on different parts of the train and you can't be in two places at once. The negatives: You have to go "travel back in time" and go to different places where you've been "in the past" in order to get the big picture. Having to fight with akward controls. Hint Book Crowd, buy the games. You may never finish it but you'll get a lot of enjoyable game play anyway.
