I've been playing RPGs for almost 40 years now and loved most of them. BG3 was really hyped by critics and it's definitely not a bad game. What really spoils the fun are awkward controls and a seriously bad camera, combined with slow round-based battles. I'd still rather go back to BGI+II, Dragon Age Origins or Pillars of eternity for good RPG experience. The "flow" is simply missing. It feels awkward, slow and ardouous going through the landscape. The battles are suffering from being round-based (auto-pause at the start and pausing whenever you wish to give commands throughout would have been the natural and in every respect superior design decision). If you switch to gamepad controls, it gets somewhat better, yet you trade in the full potential of mouse and keyboard for the very limited capabilities of gamepad buttons. Conclusion: A game with high potential, crippled by foreseeable design flaws resulting in awkward contols and bad camera, destroying all the flow and fun; truly disappointing.
Just lacks any feel and flow. Ridiculous walks around to get things done between the missions. Controls are worse than earlier titles of the series. You can see all the flaws listed in earlier reviews. I really longed for another Mechwarrior simulation, but this is truly disappointing; stopped playing after 3-4 cumbersome hours or so.
Spielt sich sehr gut und bei mir auch absolut stabil. Die Story ist nicht schlecht und der Flow genau richtig. An sich spiele ich eher klassische RPGs wie Baldur's Gate etc., aber KoA hat mich trotz der Betonung der Action wirklich begeistert!
The game is just outright boring. I bought it after reading several enthusiastic reviews about the 2020 update. In my opinion it is still a slow, boring game. I couldn't even force myself to play long enough to leave the first planet. Everything just took so long, and walking around and collecting arbitrary stuff just wasn't satisfying at all.
Unfortunately, the expansions are not included in the release, which, in case of DS II, is really spoiling the fun, as it leaves the story with a loose end. Five stars for the very smoothly running, more casual-like rpgs (still 100+ hours of fun), two stars deducted for the missing expansions (this, btw. makes the use of most interesting mods impossible as well).
... make the game simply unplayable. Fix this and all the bugs in the missions; until then, don't buy the game!
mit einem entscheidenden Fehler: Seit dem Update 4.28 sind alle Texte auf deutsch (bei deutschem Betriebssystem), was sich nicht ändern lässt. Jede Nostalgie ist schlagartig verschwunden, zusammen mit dem Spielspaß; unbedingt wieder in Ordnung bringen!
