From start to finish, this game drips with atmosphere. The visuals, the ambient soundtrack, the enemies footsteps clunking towards you, it all lends itself to a tense experience. I originally bought it thinking it was going to be more survival horror than dungeon crawler, but the combat stays at the forefront of the experience, with weapon that hit hard and have a good amount of variety. Same with enemies, a good handful of enemies that don't overstay their welcome, and bosses hit hard, but aren't damage sponges, which I love to see. The enemies reviving when you reload or reenter an area makes sense for balance reasons, but it limits the tension a bit, and there is ONE enemy that changes the pacing of the game when it's in an area, but I don't want to spoil that. Pick it up if you want to pee your pants while you slash monsters.

The games a lot of fun! It's got the Diablo combat, it has the fantasy setting, it has the relaxing atmosphere, there's a lot to like! I think the actual combat part is kind of bland tho, and the gameplay randomly jumps in difficulty on some fights, namely a certain someone in a burial site, which was the part that broke me, pitting me against an enemy about 20 levels above mine after I breezed through the whole area leading up to that fight. It's fun, if you like Diablo, you'll enjoy it, but if you're wanting a bit more RP in your RPG, I'd look at something like Baldur's Gate instead.

I've tried several times to get into this game, the first time I played and forgot about the game, the second attempt I got around 13 hours into the game, making steady progress the whole time. My kingdom, one of the aspects of the game that felt the most unfinished, failed because of a decision I made hours prior. Is it cool an RPG has your decisions impact the flow of the game? Yes. Is it cool that I would have to replay hours of gameplay because the game's character decieved me? No. I have high hopes for the new game coming out, but I can't bring myself to come back to this one.
