Chants of Sennaar

Not signing the EULA

Mandatory EULAs that refuse to boot the game and mandate data collection really need to die. Game data is one thing, but all of this? Identifying information (such as your name, nickname, etc.) ; Demographic data (such as your language, country, city, etc.) ; Any other data relating to your use of the Multimedia Program (such as your IP address, hardware configuration, connection history, error reports, etc.). Yeah no. Refunded.

KILLBUG

Great Horde-FPS *IF* it runs

One stage. Deterministic waves of escalating intensity to dance around. If you've any familiarity with the work of Sorath, or even the arcade classic Robotron, you're in for the same deal here. I haven't hit the Tapeworm yet, but from what I've seen of the roster a great deal of care was put into their design to ensure that each enemy unit fills a niche and warps the field of play appropriately. Beyond chaining wallruns, melee, and gun fire, there's a few "hidden" techniques to add a spice more depth. From what I've discovered so far, they're triggered by using melee with proper timing and at the correct angles. The achievement list gives hints, provided you're the type to read it. Sadly at the time of release on GOG, Killbug seems to simply not run on some people's hardware. Thankfully the game seems a-ok on my 10700 and 1660. Consequently I hope anyone having issues can toss their technical specs at Neon Doctrine and Samurai Punk for analysis. There's a leaderboard, but I'm pretty sure you need to at least have Galaxy installed on your machine. I've tested booting Killbug with Galaxy shutdown, still seems to be using my sign in. Not sure how that works. Do also note that as of version 1.1.03-272, there's no option to disable crosshairs. Just a toggle to select between a white box reticle or a dot-hair.

Ctrl Alt Ego

Retro Robots and Cat Pics

While it is possible to commit to an aggressive playstyle in Ctrl Alt Ego, I think it shines best when attempting to clear it stealthily and without harming any of the bots. Doing so recontextualizes many rooms into interesting puzzle boxes that require careful observation and planning to dismantle or pass through. But due to being a systemic Immersive Sim, these aren't one and done puzzle rooms kindred to the likes of Portal, but are rather invitations to forge one of many possible solutions. I feel this greatly aids in the potential longevity and replay value of Ctrl Alt Ego. The game's also rather amusing, with a dryly humorous script. Also cats, there's a lot of cats.

BioShock™ Remastered

Even the Classic version is unstable

Not only is the Remastered version prone to crashing, but Classic has been crashing to desktop mid-level on me sometimes even only a few minutes after reloading. Besides that, Bioshock has been merely "fine" as an FPS with excellent environments hampered by questionable design decisions like the Vita Chambers providing infinite respawns allowing one to trivialize all combat.
