Despite the similar theme this is not XCOM, nor is it intended to be; this is a very different game that requires you to think in a different way. Get your tactics wrong and you can very easily end up having a very hard time. Get your tactics right however and the game really opens up; you will have multiple bases, several aircraft and a whole host of soldiers with varying specialities, which you will use to make up a variety of teams. If you struggle with winning try a different approach, or search around for tips. Ignore the reviewers whining about the EULA, the cover art or anything else that's nothing to do with the gameplay, or those who are angry because they weren't very good at it.
