Higurashi is one of the most wonderful visual novels ever, and that is a fact. I have read over 70 visual novels and I have of course completed the entire Higurashi series and honestly, Higurashi easily ranks among my top 10. What makes Higurashi special is well, everything ! I really don't want to give any details on the story or to describe the type of story it is or the approch it takes, but it is a very well constructed story that will keep you on the edge of your seat for it's full duration. Do keep in mind that this is a kinetic visual novel, meaning that there are no choices to make here, personally this does not make a difference for me and I would not let that stop you from trying it, because once you do you will be hooked and you will be the other 7 chapters, and then after that you will buy the entire Umineko series because once you get a taste of When They Cry, you will won't be able to stop.

I was very skeptical before buying this game, even when it went for 15 dollars i honestly felt like it would not be worth, I personally try to avoid games that get hyped too much but oh my god does this game deserve every little bit of praise it has gotten. The game looks gorgeous, the way the grass, the sun and everything in the wild looks so good ! Sometimes I would find myself just walking around doing nothing but admiring the view. Story is amazing obviously, and not just limited to the main game, the dlc's and the side quests all have compelling stories and they all feel like effort was put into them and that they were not just randomly thrown around like most RPG games do these days. The gameplay, while some people have called the game out for the gameplay being mediocre, I disagree, I think the gameplay is very fun, especially when you start making new builds and playing around those builds. So basically, the game is awesome, I have enjoyed every single moment of it. Sorry if the review was a bit unclear, this is actually my first "long" review.
Sure it may not be a bit too much for some people with all the superpowers and aliens, I thought that i would hate it, but I was wrong !
