Dark Deity: Complete Edition

This feels polished!

First, I have worked on games in the past in the Indie community, and this game feels like it was made with one of the many game-makers out there. . .yet it is polished and feels good enough to pay for! I have just started, and the story has all the markings of a general story of fantasy, angst, character growth, and more, but it is done in a way that feels like it was well thought out and executed with care. The game itself plays pretty smoothly. There are times when I feel there are some limits to the system, but for the framework that it is made in--it performs well. I paticularly like the promotion system. Used to play these types of games a lot in the early 90's and on, and always gravitated toward them when they were released. It also has a nice early Suikoden feel that I enjoy. The only downside is that aside from the choices in how you develop your battel style and your class progression, you are on a railroad. At least the story is compelling enough to not make me frustrated in the lack of world-choice. Yet, I am still in the exposition phase of the game, just barely at the time my 'group' is recognized as such, so perhaps things will change, perhaps not. Either way, it is enjoyable and the experience feels like a mix of nostalgia mixed with reading a good book.
