I enjoyed this. It's not a long game, I've played the whole thing beginning to end in an evening, but I had fun with it. Maybe at the full £15 it would have been disappointing, but the £3 I paid for it on sale? Absolutely. The game is a story-driven game. Walking simulator would be a good description, so if you don't like those, you won't like this. I've seen people say it would be a better movie, and maybe, but I do love having something interactive, even if your influence on events is minimal.
Both of these games are masterpieces. The engaging story of a brother and sister trying to survive in a world that's out to get them will have you hooked from beginning to end. Gameplay wise, this is basically The Last of Us. Which isn't an insult, but it's the best comparison I can make. Imagine The Last of Us, but it's set in medieval France. That's what you're getting into.
This game is great. I knew very little about it going into it, and you should do the same. Don't watch gameplay, don't read summaries, go and play the game. It's a first person investigation game, telling you any more would spoil it. It's not too long, I have less than 10 hours and I feel like I've seen most of what the game has to offer, but it's been a brilliant 10 hours.
When removing the Bethesda.net connectivity, Bethesda managed to also remove the in-game mod manager, so right now it's literally impossible to use mods with the game, without resorting to 3rd party mod managers, which no-one should ever be forced to do.
It's Skyrim, it's amazing. The entire Elder Scrolls series is amazing, and this is no exception. If you've not played it, you're missing out, and thanks to GOG, you can FINALLY have it DRM-free. I bought the game at launch in 2011, and now I'm no longer bound to Steam. Thank you GOG, and thank you Bethesda.
One of my favourite games ever. At this point I must have hundreds upon hundreds of hours in it. If you're a fan of open world RPGs, this is for you. If you've played Skyrim and wonder if the older games are worth checking out, the answer is YES. (Well, Oblivion and Morrowind are. Arena and Daggerfall are an acquired taste.) That said, look up the Unofficial Oblivion Patch. I don't recommend playing without it.
The game still has the same always-online DRM that it has on other platforms. You cannot unlock anything while playing online, nor can you play Escalations, effectively forcing you to use DRM. Until IO sorts this out, this game should not be on GOG. IO needs to get rid of this online requirement once and for all. (On another note, Hitman 1 on its own isn't really worth playing anymore anyway, considering in Hitman 3 you can access all of 1 and 2's levels. But 2 and 3 aren't on GOG, so...)
I'm not gonna pretend this is perfect, but it's the beginning of a great franchise. There are plenty of things to dislike about AC1, but when it comes down to it, this is Assassin's Creed in its purest form. The origin of the Creed, the the series' roots as historical sci-fi, not as a Witcher knock-off. This is, as far as I'm concerned, the only correct way to begin the series.
Great game, go play it. Playing through the sequel at the moment and it's also great. Open world adventure that's a mix of sci-fi and stone-age fantasy. Enjoyable all the way through. A lot of people say they don't like the plot, but I enjoyed it for what it was.
