The original was giving me some technical difficulties, and my expectations were exceeded by a mile when the Terminal Cut just appeared. Plays nice with modern hardware brought me back to 2002. This is what game preservation is all about!
Saints Row 4 gets into superhero simulator territory and yes since the series inception Saints Row has been an over the top GTA Clone. I recently played through the rebooted Saints Row 2022, its absolutely terrible: the humor never lands, the map is lame, characters not memorable ... too many problems to list. Should one want to experience this classic series at its peak before jumping the shark this is it.
4 and 76 had this potential... See 3 was something else it came out of nowhere janky as it was undoubtedly still an instant classic. New Vegas drops and takes everything great about Fallout and makes it better then somehow all these years later the heights that were reached here were never topped. Sure, the latest title probably has better graphics and perhaps it'll be less buggy albeit probably not Bethesda still appears to use this ancient engine idk I picked up Starfield it felt empty less clever lacking wit perhaps The Outer Worlds 2 will scratch my Obsidian itch
I started with Civ 3 in 01', grabbed 4 Complete physical back when it came out, and I have tried all the titles in the series since. Civ 4 is the only one that matters later titles have lost what made the genre great. Recently got the digital copy on GOG thinking oh imma fan lemme just support Great Old Games then I poured another 200HRS into several Next War Campaigns 20 years later!
