Its not a secret that barely anyone cared about this game but I will write this review for people who are not sure about buying this game or people who are going to feed a troll studio and support their lazy work for future soulless products like this. Price You gotta be kidding me. A 40 euros price tag for a 3 hours repetitive gameplay with barely working game design? You guys either are crazy or you think you can fool players simply like that. Game The game is a copy paste of XXL3 which nobody in the world asked for. Matter of fact its even more boring then XXL3 with just few game mechanics that became more or less toleratable and couple of new ones that dont even work correctly as they have to. The animations are junky and cut abruptly. Game breaking bugs which slap fatal error on your face and close the game entirely. You get constantly stuck in textures, enemies get stuck in the texture, pure pleasure to play. This game doesnt deserve to exist, its a shameless entry in asterix games that puts yet another nail into the coffin of ELB games legacy. Gameplay As mentioned above the game is a clone of XXL3. But now they added a game mechanic where you can pick up objects and mash them on romans which is not satisfying at all. Barely gives any difference as if you are kicking them with bare hands, it feels the same. Besides that game introduces us to metal crates and guess what? You cant break them with your bare hands, now you have to look for a metal hammer on the level because a semi god gaul is not capable of breaking a metal crate with their bare hands as they used to in other games or just overall bruh even in the movies gauls bend metal with their bare hands lol. Boss fights are so uncreatively designed that you fall asleep or even lose desire to play further. Just please do not buy this garbage under any circumstances. There are many better games to invest into. Dont feed these lazy developers, it motivates them to not put any soul into their games.
So the reason for me to put such a low rating on this game is first of all, they butchered the asterix franchise which was carefully stone by stone built by ELB studio that sadly doesn't exist anymore for a decade already. This game is the greatest representation of word "boring", it's extremely boring and not satisfying to play it at all. They took all the XXL and XXL2 fundamentals of game design and threw it in a garbage can, completely destroying a working game design of first XXL entries. Cancerous looking plastic graphics, very bad and confusing level design, horribly implemented game mechanics that basically dont work not only in game but also in Asterix universe itself. And second of all today was announced a "new" Asterix game called ASTERIX AND OBELIX XXXL: THE RAM FROM HIBERNIA This pile of crap made me come here and alarm people to not support under any circumstances these developers. They do not deserve even a broken cent. They rolled out such horrible copy pasted product that its painful to even watch it. They reused entirely 95% of assets from XXL3 and are trying to sell it as a standalone game. I will write a detailed review when the game comes out at the Fall or 2022. Bad and lazy developers must not be tolerated. When they release crap and people eat it, that is a solid ground for them to not even try at all to meet any quality because, well you gonna eat it anyways, and milk your money and play with your feelings by using nostalgic memories of yours.
