A very fun game. I'd love to see more. My only slight criticism is that I feel like the games ends a bit too soon and some of the stories would be awesome if they lasted a bit longer and you could dig a little deeper into their back story and into the interactions. It has great replayability value.
This beats any platformer I have ever played. Even my childhood favorites are 2nd to this. The controls feel solid and even when you lose and need to start over, it still feels worth it. The feeling of constant improvement have made me continue improving through the game, as well as my desire to see more of the fabulous artwork. Despite dying a lot, it never felt punishing or frustrating. It has a perfect difficulty for me, not too easy, not too hard. The soft sweet spot for me. I also love some of the really odd, subtle references to cartoons, such a specific, opening of a particular b/w episode of Popeye. Absolutely love it! A wonderful game, that beats my previous favorites in almost every way.
I expected a nostalgic trip. The music, sounds and everything takes me back, but the controls are messed up in this version. They are incredibly inaccurate, edge detection is sloppy, sometimes despite spamming space button he doesn't jump and you still take damage despite jumping on an exhausted hyena. The version I had on floppy when I was six was much better than this. There is no way 6 year old me, could finish this game with these inaccurate and unresponsive controls, After reaching level Hakuna Matata I lose all my lives (even after i'd played it through a 2nd time on easy) The game asks if I want to continue, Yes is selected. I press enter, and it goes back to the main menu! Why?! You have 3 continue's yet selecting yes takes you back to the main menu, every single time. It's really bugged, some monsters, like the vultures sometimes don't even have collision, so you can jump straight through them without anything happening. For this price, stuff like this shouldn't be an issue. I have played bad emulators with better and more accurate controls for this.
Appealing story, but it's too short, way too linear and everything is handed to you on a silver-plate. Basically, you do not need to look for secrets, secret rooms, codes etc. It will be handed to you, crystal clear before you even notice it. Decent story, but more worth a novel than to be in a game like with, with such limited game play which only takes about a 1½ to complete on first try.
I haven't yet bought the game from GOG, however I do have the orignal game and everything. I cannot run in on my computer, so soon enough, I will buy this! This game is super unique and original! It offers great gameplay, with a lot of humor and challenge. I have yet not experienced any game like this, and overall I've been super excited for Bullfrog's games. It is definetly a buy! - Even if the graphics are pixelated it is not what matters! It leaves room for your imagination :) Dungeon Keeper <3 My all time favorite
