

A very nice game I can recommend to anyone who likes creative and intelligent adventure games with a crazy setting and a good sense of humor. Only the control could be better and indeed it is an old game but the environment is very good designed. Made with love. I give it 4 stars because I love this game but control setting and graphic is not the newest. Could need a remake. I´ve never experienced any bugs.

The core idea of of the game is very good but it is one thing what makes me put the game into the bin: The scenario difficulty comes along with the charakter average level and how many chars you are using. This mechanic alone does not destroy the game yet, but you hold all the experience and money you get in a dungeon even if your merceneris get killed or are out of cards. So if you stuck on one scenario it will be more and more difficult if you cannot handle it on the first place. What you get for every level up does not help you enough because you still need to rely on some level 1 cards and e.g. 3 damage is nothing if all monsters have like 14 HP. If you are not able to beat an scenario fast, you get into a vicous cycle with all the experience points you gain unvoluntary. Additionally you cannot save so you cannot reverse the negative efffekt if you failed.

At first it was fun but as how the game is you need at the end a perfect team to beat every specific boss at the champion level and darkest dungeon. And that leads to the point the game becomes boring because this is just an administrative and time taking task to do so. You play dungeons all over again and it happens nothing until you have your 4 hereos lvl 6 ready, without very bad quirks, illness etc. for the specific dungeon and boss so you put them into your buildings and wait until they are perfect. If you don't do that it is possible they die or at least some of them escaping the boss and you put more time into that so you better do as I say. The biggest mistakes they made in my opinion is, it's take too long to build up new champion level hereos you really need to make the game faster and less repetitive.... or, you cannot customize every class as far as you need them for specific bosses. Also, you cannot escape from this mechanic by buying other DLC, the Crimson Court e.g. will make it worse. The focus of the game is: Failure will be painfull. So I had a lot of patience playing this game but at the end there are other games you can play if you don't like sending hereos into a senseless dungeon mission just to wait until they are healed from deseases and quirks which would ruin your boss fights.

Just a good game like Ufo and X-Com. But: After a good long fight with many aliens you find out that there are so many more outside that this become very boring sometimes. Ironmode ist not an option at this moment. Why? Because you make the mistake to make it quickly and everybody dies. It makes fun but I look forward for Xenonauts 2 to make this better.


Ich weiß nicht, warum das so der Hype sein soll. Ich stolper dauernd in irgendwelche Dungeons hinein und prügel mich auch auf höchsten Schwierigkeitsniveau durch, drum herum irgendwelches Bla Bla ("Ach ein Necromantenkult hat die Zombies beschworen?"), was aber beim spielen kaum eine Rolle spielt und auch jetzt nicht so gut geschrieben ist wie bei BG2 etwa. Außerdem fehlt es in diesen Spiel, auch wenn eindeutig ein Dungeoncrawler Game, eine lebendige Atmosphäre und abwechselnde stilistische Darstellung (Comicgrafik mit wenig Abwechslung). Einziger Pluspunkt ist, diese ganzen Mods für diejenigen, die das mögen und nicht irgendwann gelangweilt sind. Ansonsten sollte man sich nach besseren Alternativen umschauen. Bei keinen Game habe ich mich jemals so gelangweilt und oberflächlich durch die Texte geklickt. Vom RPG bleibt nicht viel übrig und die Kämpfe sind auch auf sehr schweren Niveau nicht besonders ausgefeilt.
