I really like Pharaoh, and Caesar III. Why doesn't this one have a campaign? Why's the tutorial garbage? Lots of people really like this game, how? Am I missing something?
I'll admit my nostalgia is strong here, but there's really nothing quite like Age of Wonders, and even if its a bit dated, the game still holds up.
I love this kind of game, the only problem I have is the extensive DLC.
I had a lot of fun with this game as a kid. For its time it was quite good. playing it definitely reminds us on how much shooters have changed. I had fun. However, the controls are absolutely atrocious, 3 on the numpad look Down!? No strafe, and X to Jump with C to crouch!? How, how did I play this game as a kid? Maybe it works better with a joystick, I don't know I don't have a joystick, and haven't used one since the 90's. Objectively a 2 star game, I'm giving it 3 for the memories.
To a more modern gamer this game will seam somewhat illogical at times. This is a faithful reboot of the original Wizardry games, admittedly with an Anime aesthetic. If your not interested in a Old School RPG feel, with a more modern J-RPG look, this game is not for you. If this does interest you, we still have one more problem. For whatever reason, this game doesn't have a manual, and you'll really want a manual because very little is explained. Fortunately, there a plenty of guide to be found online. it's just oddly thoughtless of the developers not to include one, as this will be many players first experience with a Wizardry game.
