I played Commandos 1 a lot and I consider Desperados 1 the best game of it's kind. Desperados 3 Demo is fine. I played it over eight hours and enjoyed it very much. I finished it several times, but it was too easy for me even on the hardest difficulty. Hopefully, it will be harder in later missions. Graphics is nice, but nothing special in 2020. The advantage is, that you do not need new computer to play this game and it is still beautiful. Disadvantage is, that it does not match the price at release date. Music is very good, but I was expecting Ennio Morricone's style. Gameplay is almost identical with Shadow Tactics, which I like and dislike at the same time. It is polished and modern, but I do not like rotating in this type of games. Highlighting interactive things makes game easier, which is also good and bad at the same time. The first tutorial mission in Shadow Tactics from the same creator was astonishing. The siege of the castle outside while you are sneaking inside was so good, that just because of this I bought it. I am missing this feel in Desperados 3, the first tutorial mission is just like an ordinary tutorial mission. Nothing special. I am missing all those references on spaghetti westerns, which was in the first Desperados game, like mission titles etc. Another thing I am missing is epicness. Compare it with the Shadow Tactics I mentioned before or with the movie The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (treasure hunting on the background of the civil war). But it is just my personal expectations. I am glad, that tactical strategy games like Commandos are not dead. I did not bought the full game yet, because it is too pricy for me, but I will definetely buy it, when the price will drop. Why demo versions are not standard these days? It was twenty years ago, so we are moving backwards?
Looks ugly and dirty. I will not play this game even for free.
Nice addition to a great game (see my original review). I finished the DLC with all 100 stars. It is more complex, but actually easier. Passengers have a different mechanics based on time limit and random emerging train stations and destination points. If you like the basic game, you will like this too. Graphic is beautiful, levels are unique and music is relaxing (there are no new tracks in DLC). I like little details like living animals and working vehicles, which makes levels interesting and not dull. It is definitely worth to buy. PLAYING TIP: If you will concentrate on passengers at the beginning and sending them early from one central point, you will earn a lot of money for the rest of the level.
One of my favourite games. I played over 135 hours and finished the game with all 250 stars and almost all achievements. The game is easy to learn, but hard (not so hard) to master. If you want to play just for fun, you can with no problem. But if you want to get 5 stars on each level, it is challenging (how it should be). Do not expect OpenTTD, this is a puzzle game with trains. If you want to relax, this game is a very good choice. + beautiful graphics (vector style) + relaxing music + unique levels + hours and hours of fun + translations + whole level on the screen (zooming allowed) + Linux version - no level editor in GOG version
