The DOS versions are passable but lackluster. You basically want to use keyboard controls. Some version by Dot Emu or with MAME would be better. MAME is GPLv2 just like DosBox I think. The ROMs would be playable even once Windows bites the dust.

I have fond memories of playing this game when I was younger. In it you play as a WWI fighter pilot. You have to perform missions. The game includes several minigames depending on the mission you get assigned. The game also includes a nicely written diary detailing the happenings to the pilot which is witty and atmospheric. I think it really puts you into the mindset. It is a 16-bit computer game however so you have to take that into account. Even then this is I think one of the finest games of the type on that era. PC users got to enjoy Red Baron several years later but this was one of the few options you have on the Amiga platform. This game is more arcade like than something like Red Baron though. Someone else mentioned issues with saved games. IIRC the game comes in 2 game diskettes. You can save your game progress on the second diskette. But the game is basically played in what modern gamers would call "Iron Man Mode". Typically progress is saved whenever you exit the game. There is also only a single save slot. So if you don't want to save your progress, you just eject the second diskette before it is written to or reset the computer and reload from the past save.
This game came with my video card a couple years back. I lost the CD since so I bought this here. But it didn't work on Windows 10. It crashed with an "Incoming error report" window. Setting compatibility mode did not work either. Stay clear if you have a recent Windows version.
