I played many similar games (including GTA, Saints Row, Watch Dogs etc) and Sleeping Dogs really stands out in all of them. While it's similar to them, it's also unique. I don't like the things that break immersion which every other similar game has something like that. For example, physics in GTA, breaks the immersion for me. With martial arts, car chasing, backstreets of Hong Kong, Sleeping Dogs was the best for me among these games. I'm sad that there isn't a better game currently.
I like fast-paced and it has a little Doom vibe too. Rogue-lite is essentially a good idea, but comparing this to Binding of Isaac make this game end up in "Ocean vs Lake". Could be fun for a couple hours but it already feels repetitive right at the first floor. All weapons feel similar, all rooms feel similar. There are too little differences to notice that don't add much to every run. Pretty much a mediocre game.
Dungeon part is fine but RTS part is a travesty. I don't even mind the slowness but units get stuck everywhere and you spend half of the time waiting for units to reach a place in the labyrinth of a map. Also it crashes a lot. You are doomed if you see "saving is failed" error, because most likely the game will crash and you'll lose all of the progress since your last save. This one does not worth the hassle. Dungeons 3 is much better.
To me, this is the best Far Cry game out there. Of course it has its flaws but what it offers much better things than other games in the series. It's kind of a sandbox and not being able to capture outposts is a letdown, especially because of how fast the enemies respawn, but it's much more fun. Because of the sandbox-like setup, it doesn't offer cinematic episodes like the later games, but that also means you can do everything with your preferred way. Even though there isn't much of story, at least it feels more realistic. Also, Far Cry 2 still has the best physics in the series.
This is a single player game so there shouldn't be a DRM in this game, if you are selling it on GOG. Yes, the game can be played offline but some content locked behind an online DRM which is unacceptable. Either GOG or the developer IO should return from this mistake.
