Thea: The Awakening

Every time I play, I fall in love again

As with many lesser known titles, Thea has some hiccups. It's not the prettiest, having to turn resource mode on every turn is annoying and it can be sparse on information, for example. That said, the game itself is splendid. From your one village you send out expeditions to forage, solve quests and hunt monsters, all of which are necessary to complete the game. Resources appear scattered around the map and expeditions is the only way to reach any that isn't right by your village, for example. It also lets an expedition survive in the wilds indefinitely, theoretically anyway, which I've always loved. Most of the systems, while a little sparse on information, is intuitive once you grasp it and really fun to delve into. The simple crafting system works well with your varying amounts of resources and lets you create anything from a salad to complex gear in the same way. Thea is a really cool game that blends gameplay genres in a pretty unique way. While it can be low on information, once you get into it the intuitiveness of the systems take over. I can strongly recommend this for anyone looking for something new in their strategy games.
