Music used at the wrong times ruining atmosphere in some cases. More of a focus on Combat because Modern Audiences have major problems with the Psychological Horror aspect vs Over the Top Action and need a dopamine hit every minute or they lose focus and will call the game "Boring". Again, Modern Audience. Voice Actors are not as good as the Original, and lines have been changed. Impactful scenes have been changed "Angela's is one example" which explains more of why her personality is the way that it is. Play the OG Silent Hill 2 for PS2, or SH2 Restless Dreams for Xbox, or the patched version of SH2 for PC, then go play this remake and you will completely understand what I'm saying. Fanboys won't care, true Silent Hill fans will after you truly see the difference for yourself.
Unfortunately, as much as I really wanted to love this game from so long ago dating back to the Dreamcast and Playstation, this game is really bad Control and Mechanic Wise and I don't mean bad controls as in Tank Controls. You have to literally be Pixel Perfect to pick up anything or activate anything, Enemies Respawn and you have limited Ammo in which you NEED to save for bosses or you have to restart the WHOLE GAME OVER AGAIN. Well, you are thinking, just use a Melee Weapon and Save Ammo? There are no Melee Weapons in this game.... Yet in the earlier Alone In The Dark Series, they had Swords you could use?!?! Completely unacceptable. Just run past enemies in a Narrow hallway in an attempt to save ammo? They will get you 9 out of 10 Times. First Aid Kits are limited until about Half of the game and this is with Carnby, the easiest Character out of the 2. The Storyline and some of the Music and Sound Effects boost it to 2 Stars out of 5, but even though this is based off of a Resident Evil/Silent Hill Survival Horror Tank Controls game, it isn't the Tank Controls that ruin it, it's the Balance and Mechanics of Limited Ammo, No Melee Weapons to save Ammo and that you need this Ammo to Defeat Broken Bosses or you won't progress. Don't Believe me? Just read about the First Boss encounter with Carnby in the Library, that just might very well be the definition of a Bullet Sponge. Puzzles are tough but that's what Guides are for. Again, it's the Mechanics of the game of no Melee, limited Ammo and Broken Boss Fights along with Pixel Perfect searching that makes this really bad. This game makes Resident Evil 3 look like a masterpiece and I wish I was kidding. I really wanted to love this one, but it's beyond frustrating when it doesn't need to be.
