Felt a little nostalgic, when I saw PDWT released here on GOG. Mostly because of AVGN episode :) I guess they released this game partly just for the hell of it. But still I applaud GOG for releasing it. Game preservation should't be exclusive only for the greatest hits. We have to know failures from the past of gaming to be sure we're not repeating it the future (in other words, those who are not familiar with the history are doomed to repeat it).
First time I've ever played it and I'm pleasently surprised. Yeah, story is generic, but I find sniping quite satysfying. Shooting with any other weapon feels quite bad, but if you can stick to sniping, you'll be good. I don't know how to express it, but this game has that old FPS feel and I'm all for it. For less than 0,5 $ it was a great buy.
When I first played it, I thought it only had the first neighbourhood to play in, but I was pleasantly surprised there actually is more to this game. Relating to "being abandonned by devs" reviews, it's not the case really. Updates for GOG version are realesing, just some time after Steam version ones. I'm only speculating, but PlayWay may have some agreement with Valve that their Thief Simulator games (and their other games maybe) are getting updates and DLCs to Steam versions earlier than here, on GOG.
