Fallout London is a very entertaining game set in post-apocalypse London built on Fallout 4's system and mechanics. It is to Fallout 4 what New Vegas is to Fallout 3. That is to say, same base game but with extra flourishes and improvements, such as dialogue that's actually dialogue, and skill checks that can be used, and multiple solutions to a problem. There are cute brit-ified versions of familiar objects such as the ATTA-Boy, as well as new items based on thing such as the ever popular Ion Brew. For better or worse (mostly worse), the game is built on Fallout 4's rocky foundation, and as such you can expect things such as settlement building and companion quests. However, it also has a lot of flaws that carry over from the main game, such as the absurd choice of dirty water being needed to craft food when you can only produce clean water, the game becoming unplayable after enough playtime (which is where my adventure ended), and the squiffy legendary and leveled-loot system, as well as weird things such as you being unable to make a workbench to improve your gear unless you have gotten to "local leader 2" which is a perk that requires 6 Charisma and so many levels, on top of also needing the relevant skill. Why? But that's, again, a flaw that comes from the base game, not FoLondon's fault. But it is of note. That all aside, if you enjoy Fallout, and if you like Fallout 4's mechanics, then you'll likely have a jolly good time.
The amount of stuff from this game that was just straight up cut from the remake is astounding. Chief Irons is actually a monsterous irredeemable piece of pucky in this vs the cartoon villain he is in the remake. The pacing's also far better. Also your knife doesn't shatter on the third use like some glorified breath of the wild weapon. Anywho, I know I'm basically just chiding the crappy remake in this and not actually reviewing it, but do you really need me to? You know the game's darn good, so go for it!
Classic Survival horror goodness. They patched out ink ribbons in this port for some reason though, so you have infinite saves, but otherwise is as enjoyable as it has ever been. Funny coming back to this title as I played the remake first, been a delight to see the differences first-hand.
