Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

An okay action shooter

This game is okay, it doesn't really offer anything special, other than the fact that it's part of the Warhammer 40k universe. As mentioned in other reviews, the environments look pretty good, but they never change so everything basically feels the same. I do love the fact that your Space Marine feels a bit clunky and you can feel the "weight" in his movements and also in his melee and stomp attacks (with the jetpack). The combat is quite fun and offers some variety, though there are some annoying enemy types and you just die sometimes, because you don't know what enemy spawns where and when, so you get surprised by psychers for example only to then die within 2 seconds. Another thing that doesn't work quite well is the way you recover health. Sometimes, when an enemy received a certain amount of damage, they'll get stunned and you can then approach them and perform an "Execute". Unfortunately, it is very dangerous to go into melee, you have to stand behind cover quite often AND you don't get any invincibility during the execute animation, making it actually very dangerous to go and recover your health. Though it IS important to mention that you can also regenerate your health during "Fury" which is what I did almost exlusively later on in the game. The story is okay, quite predictable if you ask me. There are a lot of very obvious hints about what's gonna happen halfway through the game. So overall, I guess I'd recommend it if you're a fan of the 40k universe and you're into third-person shooters. If not, then this probably isn't for you.
