I decided to try out this game after hearing about it online being praised to bits. The first half of the game was very disappointing, way below my expectations. Just a standard sniper experience of picking off enemies standing around houses, like any other sniper missions game. Except you use an assault rifle for the most of it. This went on for quite a while. Really boring, I almost wanted to quit, but forced myself to continue. What was quite the surprise to me, was the attention to detail. For example, palm trees break where you shoot them, you being able to pick up things, throw them, shoot chickens, throw chickens, and the physics in general. Then the game started to become interesting around the point of you entering the mine and meeting the aliens. They fly around and attack you, and it gets much more brutal with time. It really deviated from the stock experience and I had quite a blast. There are some sections in the game where you die constantly to the same enemies, even on normal difficulty, which I don't necessarily see as a bad thing, as it adds to the variety of the game. Oh and the boss fights were epic. Extra tip: Run the DX9 exe for it to have 4:3 aspect ratio, or else it will be stretched. Sadly the game crashes sometimes. All in all, a good game, but a bit overhyped. But maybe for 2007 that's the most epic sh*t people have ever seen.
