fheroes2 is a recreation of the Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine. This open source multiplatform project, written from scratch, is designed to reproduce the original game with significant improvements in gameplay, graphics and logic (including support for high-resolution graphics, improved AI, numerous fixes and user interface improvements), breathing new life into one of the most addictive turn-based strategy games.
The game has received regular updates since being launched which introduced some of the requested features. 1.1 added wages and taxes mechanics. 1.2 added fire, crime and disease mechanics. 1.3 will update gods and temples, festivals and enhanced decoration options. This update should be released 16 February 2022. If you're a fan of the old Impression city builders e.g. Pharaoh/Caesar you'll enjoy this.
This is a great game and offers 100's of hours worth of entertainment. Can be a bit grindy but that's part of the fun. Please bring Chasing Shadows to GOG! Older games of the series are available for free from the developers website.
