This is a really great RPG! Both the story and the game mechanics are extremely good! There is one problem, which is the rather ridiculous over-representation of women in high ranks. Apparently, in this game, every single hero and many of the main antagonists are women. It's getting rather ridiculous! It's getting more and more difficult to take these fantasy worlds seriously. That said, the characters are usually well written and that helps a lot. Overall it's a very enjoyable game.
I'm not far into the game, so I hope it gets better (much better!), but so far the writing has been atrocious and the characters are boring and uninspired. Also, the whole setting has a much more juvenile feel, compared to the previous game. It's very manicheistic, gruesome and simplistic. Good guys vs bad guys and you're the chosen one! The story may get better, but I don't think there's any hope for the writing and the characters. Gone are the days of characters like Amiri, Regongar, Octavia, Jubilost, Nok-Nok. This time I will probably just create some custom characters and ignore the premade companions, because they're so generic and bland, that there's no justification to use them, since they're abviously less optimized than a character I make myself. Also, control casters have been nerfed, which I dislike. They've removed the ability to add some metamagic to some control spells, which really penalizes my playstyle.
Point and click adventure with skill checks would be a more apt description of this game. I couldn't find anything really interesting about this game, apart from the artwork, which is really good. The story and characters are rather boring though.
