NOX ARCHAIST is incredible. 43 years have passed from 1981 to 2024, and these developers have mastered the Apple 2e hardware like no one else today. Technically speaking, it is the most advanced Apple IIe game I have ever seen. I am blown away by how not only the technical implementation but also the handling has been vastly improved. The overall user experience is much better than in the "good" old days. I can only play on AppleWin, not a real Apple IIe, but it just works perfectly. Thank you for this dedicated masterpiece. The developers probably won't get rich off of it, but their talent has all the love and passion a game developer could imagine. My humblest, most heartfelt thanks and appreciation for this masterpiece.
Cyberpunk 2077 is another missed opportunity. Though the developers tried to achieve a lot and put lots of effort in, they succeeded mainly in technical aspects, not regarding gameplay. In Cyberpunk 2077 you have a well designed, huge city, sometimes like a maze on different vertical levels. Very good! But the big flaw is the mission design. Still the same eradicate all enemies stuff for solving the mission. Very linear, nothing revolutionary. Two missions can't criss-cross, intertwining factions, enemies do not run away, get support, do not hunt you, no car chases or car battles, etc. We have to wait for Bethesda to go one step further. Whether this was due hardware restrictions or whatever, I do not know. Nvidia presented their Tensor cores for AI support, but developers need to use it or tell why they don't. The bigger and more beautiful everything is done, its not worth the time, if NPCs do not "act", and you run from one mission to another, like a cop on cocaine. Cyberpunk 2077 degenerates to a cheap killer game. Running around in a huge virtual city, beautifully done, killing punks, gangs, and all those lesser beings, usually with a red arrow above their head. Also the "Cyber"-stuff is done very badly and bland. For hacking its just a stupid number game, which sucks after a while. Nothing like a challenge. Even Paradroid on the C64 was better. Also no extra card game like in the Witcher 3. Unbelievable heights and depths. Cyberpunk 2077 is lost there. We all know, that creating virtual worlds for gaming are a exponential factor on efforts to develop. However it is somehow unfinished, unless the developers start explaining. Not really recommended therefore, but still a 3/5, which really should be a 4 or 5 out of 5.
This is literally the worst attempt for an action role playing game I ever met. The game or producers try meticulously to focus and emphasize on its specially physics based controls, which would let this game stand out from others. It just does NOT. The controls are awkward and not properly done. In fact, somehwere in the code seems to work some animation based on a physics functions, but you will need a lot more to make this work as a playable game. Even Ultima Underworld was more accessible and physically accurate, than this acceleration and impact force emulator. Hell no. Please try different stuff, but make it worthwhile.
An excellent example of oldskool RPG, which got a essential and long needed refresh, for earning a recommendation on Windows 10. This is exactly the game Diablo 1 has been, bit by bit. It is way better than any of this hyped mods. Raw at its best. Buy it, enjoy it. It is the best loot from the crypt.
By old skool we commonly refer to those games which we still have in mind for their excellence in gameplay, though the audio & visuals wont stand the test of time. INQUISITOR is NOT like that. This succeeds only in one discipline, and that is how to copy well known game elements and mix them uninspiringly together. I don'T know where to start. the lack of a actual good combat syste. a game not error prone. the whole world of this game feels sterile, lifeless, though it isnt generic! Horrible item icons, which make you most frightened. In general, I have the impression, they really had no motivation how to make a good rpg, but just an rpg. And thats what this game is, just another rpg. and there are already much better to try.
Raiden Legacy seems to use emulators software as well, but I noticed a very annoying micro stutter with all three Games from the Raiden series included. My specs is a C2D at 3.4 GHZ with 460GTX. I am able to compare really this version well to the M.A.M.E version, which is definitely better, since it is smoother and really original. I do expect a new title on the PC to run abosutely smooth, no jitter, no stutter at all, especially if hardware specs should be really low, as Raiden was a Bitmap only game. Conclusion, I rate only 2 stars. If you are able to run the M.A.M.E version, use this instead.
Far Cry's graphics today arent stunning anymore, but still very pleasant for a 1st / 2nd generation FPS. But what makes Far Cry still outstanding is its exceptional gameplay in single player mode. It is hard, challenging and offers a better AI than 90% of all other FPS released up until today. Very good work.
This game is rather an RPG than an action adventure, but with really superb graphics. If you are looking for a deep, immersive RPG, dont go for the Witcher 2. This game is good when you like fast-paced and well animated fights, impressive cutscenes, and loads of story plus well-done characters. The RPG part is mostly a nice bonus. Overall, the Witcher 2 is a good experience, becuaee of the excessive use of visual and audible effects. My only wish would be The Witcher as real RPG, in a Open World, where you decide what to do next. But I accept the Witcher 2, as it does not try to do something which it technically isnt capable of. The Witcher 2 is perfect as it is, but this game is not a perfect RPG.
