Yes, it does takes a rapid turn from the gameplay of the classic entries, and yes, the 2nd half can be tedious being practically a long escort mission, but those flaws don't overshadow the thick atmosphere and story. Team Silent's swan song, and a must play for every fan of the classic SH.
