This was my side-scrolling experience as a kid. I didn't have Mario, Sonic, or Samus at home, but I had Jill! I really love the fun these games project. You can tell that the people who made these had a blast and they wanted those playing them to do the same. The graphics are colorful and bright and the sounds make good use of the Sound Blaster technology of the time(There's even a noise maker!). There is a special place in my heart for Jill of the Jungle. Here's hoping that a modern side-scrolling Jill of the Jungle sees light!
