Mad Max is dramatic, absorbing and brutal. It's a good mix of gameplay styles, and the story and characters are well-written. Best of all, though, is the world-building, which is outstanding. The post-apocalyptic landscape is varied, incredibly well-presented and fun to explore. Mad Max will live on in the memory more than most games. Especially the final act, which is relentless and shocking. The developers have done a brilliant job of bringing Fury Road to life in this game and it is well worth playing through to the end. I was surprised how good Mad Max was. Highly recommended.
XIII is absolutely dreadful. The saves don't work properly and therefore it keeps insisting I replay levels I've already done. The cut sequences are appalling, the graphics are basic and the game is about as simplistic as a first-person shooter can be. I got it free in a GOG giveaway and I still feel short-changed. Avoid this mess.
I was looking forward to this game, having not played it before, but I cannot recommend it. I have two monitors and play games in the right-hand monitor. During the game the (hidden) mouse cursor wanders onto my left-hand screen and clicking (to shoot) causes the game to minimise. In all my years of PC gaming I have never seen a bug so amateurish and pathetic. If you have more than one monitor: do not buy this game.
