Tropico 3 Gold Edition

A good game at a great price.

Tropico 3 is one of those games that fits into a niche and does it perfectly. Running your own banana republic and running it to a budget while keeping both your people and foreign allies happy is a tricky but pleasing challenge. The campaign missions focus on different aspects of the game but usually fall into economy or military scenarios, all with a different island and therefore different amounts of usable space and resources. The game has the full and complete set of features that you'd expect from any RTS/city-builder game and a surprisingly elaborate but functional and easy-to-learn political system. This game has depth. The only downside to the Tropico IP is that all the games in the series are pretty much the same. The fact it's got to the 4th in the series recently is testament to how well this works and actually this works in your favour when buying Tropico 3 Gold for a low, low, price because you're actually getting essentially the same game as you get with Tropico 4 but much cheaper. You really owe it to yourself to try this game out if you're at all interested in the genre and though the same could be said for Tropico 1, I still think you'd do yourself a better favour buying Tropico 3.
