Let me be clear, Hand of Fate is NOT a bad game in any way and my god is it worth it, but it's not perfect. Let's start with the graphics. The game looks great, the textures are nice, character design is great but something was lacking from the start and I can't get over it, and that is the animation. They look very choppy, half of the time my blows don't even connect and they still deal damage, it feels as if someone took toys and stop motioned their movements, only to speed it up afterwards. They aren't good at all. That being said, I understand that it's made in Unity which granted isn't the best engine on the market. Gameplay? Fan-****-tastic. Don't be fooled by the "Trading card" label. The premise is you're collecting cards which are divided into two. Equipment and Encounter cards. Now equipment is self explanatory, but encounters are really unique. You're actually picking which encounters you will have, so for example if you want to fight but not play trough a challenge treasure hunt, you can. Music and voice acting is great, I've got no complaints there. Overall it's a good game, if you're really into smooth animations and fluid combat, you'll find it lacking but you will still go back to it because the game itself is great. If they just updated the animations it'd definitely be a 5/5!
If you are a fan of sneaking games, with a huge emphasis on atmosphere, then this is a must own! Big levels with plenty of ways to complete. Will you kill off patrols? Will you sneak past them and use your huge array of gadgets to fool them? It's all up to the player. The game also features a great story that revolves around a creepy cult called the Mechanists and their creepy leader Karras! Just get it and you won't be dissapointed
Oh my god, Gothic and it's sequel Gothic 2 are in my opinion one of the greatest RPG's yet. The story is awesome, and the character development is incredibly well done. From not being able to wield a sword and running away from all the enemies you'll turn into a fierce warrior that isn't afraid of anything the hostile world throws at him. The combat in the game is a bit odd to get used to, it's not your typical "Press left click and win" combat... It's tough to describe. I've had moments when I'm standing on the training polygons in the swamp and just practicing the moves for over half an hour! The music and atmosphere are just... Extraordinary. The lore, the characters. It's a gem, but a flawed one I must add. It's littered with little pesky bugs, the learning curve is extremely steep and the voice acting isn't anything special. Overall amazing game, worth every penny :)
