Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

Not what I was expecting...

I played it for 5-8 hours and didn't finished the game. This is my review. I've played and loved story driven games without challenging gameplay like 'What Remains of Edith Finch', 'Oxenfree', 'Superluminal', 'Transistor', The Legaxy of Kain Series, etc. Even when I consider myself a hardcore gamer who only plays things like The Souls Series, Hack and Slice games on the hardest diffulty like DMC or GoW, etc. I was expecing a story driven game with a sprinkle of combat on top. What I got was a confusing story about a girl who either is allucinating because the dead of a love one(husband maybe) or is actually on Hel looking for a way the have clouse or bring him back. Playing on the hardest difficulty is a piece of cake, combat only demands of you to either attack or dodge attacks. Puzzles were actually good. Yet, boring combat and broken pieces of the story in between made it not worth it. 90% of what I played was walking, cutscenes, and little boring combat. Graphics 10/10 (Not enough to make a good game). Story 3/10 (Am I retarted for not finding the "deep meaning" interesting?) Sound 8/10 Music -/- (Was there Music LOL?) Combat 2/10 (I have played Turn Based RPGs with more action than this (Child of Light for example)).

RimWorld

Unexpected gameplay and funness.

Hi fellow gamers, I would like to begin by stating that the only real time strategy games I've played are Age of Empires and Warcraft 3 (two of the greatest games of its genre according to some people), and I really didn't enjoyed them that much. That being said I felt like the genre wasn't for me, until I played Rimworld. This game's crude take on survival, resource management, and injury system seems unfair at times, but when you prepare and manage to hold off a great treat it's so satisfying. THIS GAME IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY!! The game demands a great sink of time to build up your colonist's skills, research (what you can build), and colony. I highly recommend to DOWNLOAD quality of life MODS and AI improvement. The game is still being updated because it hasn't reached its final state. Some mods even get integrated to the base game when they are deemed important to improve the player experience. Overall a great game and unique game (at least to me is unique), but you really need to download mods if you don't want to micro management every action of your 5-13 colonists every 10 seconds.

Slay the Spire

Unique and Fun.

2D Graphics. Turn based combat, roguelike, card game. Gameplay: You select one of three characters whom start with a different ability. You are given a starting deck based on your character. Start at one of (3-5) roots and make your way to the top. Each root has a different set of ecounters, ranging from normal combats, elite combats, rest sites, random events, and treasure chambers. Plan accordingly to reach the top with enough health to defeat the stage boss. After clearing a floor you get different rewards, like cards to add to your deck, relics (which usualy give you passive abilties), etc. Nowdays I don't really play, or like, any turn based combat, nor card games, even less roguelikes. Yet, this game is so fun, and worth it's price. Such a unexpected blend of genres yielded an amazing game loop. It's been a while since I played a game so unique. The ones that gave me such a feel like this game are Shadow of the Colossus, Furi, The Witness, League when it wasnt well known, and more recently Rimworld.
