Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector

A wonderful, touching journey

Much like the first, this is a wonderful, touching journey that, in this modern and harsh age, seeps through the cracks and touches your core. I'm both overjoyed I got to experience it and saddened I've finished. This is that warm summer everyone has just once where everything just fits. I suppose I should stop waxing lyrical and actually write about the game! The art is lovely and fits the theme, the systems have been expanded and fit the narrative nicely and the music was, again, gorgeous

Moons of Ardan

Its great fun!

I bought this for my girlfriend so we could play something next to one another and, I'm very pleased to say, we both love it! Its fun, bright, cheery, challenging and just really rather wholesome. I'd describe it as a mix between Anno, Sim City and a little bit of Kerbal (just in the space sense) with some Factorio thrown in for good measure. For the joy its brought to my girlfriend's face, it was worth every single penny. :) Thoroughly recommend!

Anno 1404: Gold Edition

Good but frustrating

Its a good game but it suffers from an awful memory leak that takes some of the enjoyment out of the game. You are forced to continually save and close the game so it doesn't crash. Thankfully the game will warn you (or should) when its going to run out of memory, but its still frustrating. That aside, the game is good fun. Its nice to play a semi-peaceful game about economically dominating your rivals rather than defeating them in battle. The graphics are good, it runs reasonably well (when its not crashing) and is complex, but accessible, enough to be deep and fun. While the online servers may have been taken down, it is possible to use services such as GameRanger to run sudo LAN games over the internet. My girlfriend and I are enjoying it. My top tip: Get it on sale. At the end of the day, its a game from 2010 by BlueByte (Settlers, another one of my faves)

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD

Excellent!

My Mum wore out 2 original Xbox discs she played this so much. Now, its pretty hard to wear a download out, but I think she'll try ;) The game is great, its fun, funny and different. Well written with smart controls and an enjoyable combat system. Good for the young or old :) Highly recommend

Homeworld® Remastered Collection

Simply one of the best games ever made

As my title suggests, I'm a love this game (I've bought it 4 times over the years - twice on Disc, once on Steam and now on GOG cause ownership rules) Its beautiful, touching, tough, endlessly replayable and so deeply enjoyable. I bought it (again) on sale but its worth the full price. I love it. If you haven't already, buy it now. If you have, play it now!

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7

Its great, but...

Its great, but years 1 - 4 are better. Why? Well, allow me to explain: The hub worlds are extremely large and often have levels built into them that take a really long time to complete and aren't very satisfying (for year 4 - the beginning of the game - this is especially true) . The levels themselves are, oddly, quite short but very enjoyable. Where as years 1-4 paced its levels and spell lessons quite nicely, this one is like Poundland steak, chew-y and tough to progress with. The game struggles with great stretches of travel and no levels which makes it frustrating. Also, take note there is a game breaking bug! Others have mentioned it, but I want to add it here so you can find a way around it: When you come to get the orange spell towards the end of year 5 (Forgive me, I forget its name) focus on getting the spell and NOTHING ELSE in the classroom. If you interrupt the 'spell learnt' bit you won't get it and won't be able to get it again. Your save will be ruined and you'll have to start ALL over again (This happened to me and I had a full strop) If I had a suggestion, before you get too far in Year 5, quit, access the save file (Under AppData) and copy it somewhere as a backup At the end of the day its a great multiplayer game that my girlfriend and I get to play together and for the smile it puts on her face it is worth every penny. (That and I get to steal the purple studs and that annoys her)

Citizen Sleeper

A wonderful and touching game

I think the title says it all. I'm not one for story driven games, but this gem grabbed me and i just couldn't let go. With a cast of wonderful characters and a rich story the game is built for you to just lose yourself for a while. I love science fiction and the universe that has been created here offers so much and, what makes it even better, is the presentation. The art is beautiful and the music even better (If you can, I recommend you pick up the soundtrack, its stellar) the gameplay mechanics, while a little full on at first, quickly become simple to grasp and exploit. What makes it even better is the fact that they're different, or are to me anyway, so it was an entirely new experience. I liken the game to taking a swim in a warm, rich cup of Tea: stimulating, rich, full of flavour and, sometimes bitter, it just begs you to have another cup. Honestly, Its one of those games that I felt sad I had to finish. I wanted it to go on forever. I miss its warmth. Don't hesitate to pick it up. You won't regret it.
