Silent Hill 4: The Room

This is where PT got it from.

Despite missing a bunch of the Room hauntings, having this in not only HD but in 4K is a dream come true after the hellish disaster that was the SH HD Collection. I would still have a backup "main" copy to see the rest of the content (this tells you what the PC is missing http://www.silenthillmemories.net/sh4/hauntings_en.htm) but this nevertheless is one of the best ways to play the game. hopefully they follow suit with SH2-3! I haven't gotten a controller to work which was a mild bummer but a mouse works just fine. If you are unfamiliar with this game... people say it is the "worst" of the original 4 but in a way it is the best. It packs by far the most disturbing imagery and the least relief, for example neglecting the tradition of 1 joke ending. They force you to do a lot of un-fun things that psychologically wear you down... but I say lean into this. it made me *feel* more than any of the first 3, and the cyclical "get me out of here" repetition I believe it is an artistic achievement in its literal embodiment of depression. Everything is monochromatic and boring, there is almost nothing fun to look at, it is impotence incarnate. You are a passive (possibly neuroatypical) observer who can only look out the window and see all the colorful things he can't have, and you must rise to the occasion of looking cosmic, surreal evil in the face, empathizing fully, and putting it to rest forever. And if nothing else, the "trapped going in circles" motif will remind you where PT got the idea.
