Dark Quest 1 & 2

A simple action RPG...

There's not much to say, just that it's simple, easy to learn, fair difficulty (it doesn't have that trolling difficulty that many indie developers love), and it's very reminiscent of Gauntlet (the classic). Anyway, three characters available in DQ1 (in DQ 2 there are more characters, but the ones I'm going to mention play similarly in both): Barbarian, Dwarf and Wizard. The barbarian has more HP, the dwarf has the ability to detect traps and disarm them, he can also move more spaces on the board, and the wizard specializes in what you already imagined: Magic! =D "Are there bugs?" I didn't see any in both games. Maybe I'm lucky? I don't know. Don't pay attention to the negative comments, if you like dungeon crawlers, this pack should be in your collection, so buy it and I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun!

Chaser

"Sorry, goodbye chico..."

In this mission (I think it's the second or third) you will understand how bad this game is. And if that's not enough, the next mission will be the definitive test! This game is rubbish in every way... It even seems like the developers released a beta version and called it a day. And there is also no way to skip the cut scenes, which are long and boring! I don't know if this is a problem for you... For me it is. Anyway, If you want a decent FPS with a "secret agent" vibe, try XIII (vanilla), but avoid the remake which is also radioactive waste.

Tiny full screen...

Serious? Nobody reported this?! This game opens in a full screen, whose resolution is 640x480, and there is no option to change this. Many recommended "dgVoodoo2" (which does not guarantee a 100% working fix), but I wanted to see a GOG fix for this problem, which obviously won't happen. The GOG team is currently very busy going after NSFW games. And if you don't mind that, the game in general is very good... A classic!

MDK 2

Better than the first, but still boring

All the strange gameplay decisions from the first one are in this one, for example: Shooting into holes to hit enemies, and looking for things to open doors, and these things are "spheres" that are kind of hidden in the stage. No, this is not Run and Gun at all! This is just a game with tons of platforming, some puzzles and shooting elements with few enemies in the stage, just like the first one. Technically speaking, it ran well on a true full screen, unlike the first one. And I didn't experience any crashes, the game runs smoothly in OpenGL at 60 frames, and the controls are good, remappable and functional; only these things are good in this game, unfortunately. Well, that was my experience and what I saw, try it if you want or not. I recommend trying X-COM - Enforcer if you're looking for a true good run and gun, by the way, it's almost always on GOG with a good discount.

It might have been good for 1997...

So today is no longer good. People evaluate this with a lot of nostalgia, in general, you will read comments like: "I played this when I was a child" or "This was one of my first PS1 games". Anyway, for a person who doesn't have nostalgia for this game, everything works in a truncated, bland and tiring way, hitting holes to open a passage becomes a difficult task at times and rummage the stage in search of the "Smallest atomic bomb in the world" is boring to hell. The default controls are complete shit, however there is a solution, just look at PCGamingWiki. Running in nGlide or DirectX (GOG wrapper) won't give you a true full screen, nor will the infamous dgVoodoo2 do the job for you. In general and technically speaking, it ran well without the annoying "AppCrash", at least that's a good thing. Well, that was my experience and what I saw, try it if you want or not. I recommend trying X-COM - Enforcer if you're looking for a good run and gun, by the way, it's almost always on GOG with a good discount.

Shadowgrounds

Is this some kind of joke?!

I was playing and I wasn't enjoying it very much, but, okay, I continued and reached the last boss, defeated him and went through the teleporter, a scene started and, soon after, I was greeted by a BEAUTIFUL BLACK SCREEN! The characters' voices were playing in the background. I pressed "ESC" and was able to access the Menu, clicked on "Resume" and was thrown into the Main Menu without any error warning. I could replay, but this is one of those that doesn't accept saving during the stages, so I would have to replay the entire level, which is tedious to say the least. Well, if you've read this far, be warned about this bad joke from the developers.

Nox™

One of the most beautiful ARPGs...

Everything in NOX is beautiful and atmospheric, full of incredible details and particle effects which I've never seen in any ARPG before or even after... Definitely has a unique artistic "DNA"! Well, don't go into the adventure expecting a "Diablo clone", as NOX isn't one, nor does it try to be. Keep in mind that is an "Adventure" with ARPG elements and everything else your way. Honestly, this is one of those games that deserves more love, unfortunately, it didn't get the attention it deserves because Diablo 2 was released in the same year (2000). NOX is graphically more beautiful than D2! So don't pay attention to the negative reviews and BUY! And use the "cnc-ddraw" wrapper to make NOX work on your system. Believe me, you won't regret it. ;)

The game is GOOD, BUT the relaunch...

It is completely broken in Zone 3 (Oxygen Apporach). Drama Summary: If you don't have a joystick you're fucked! The mouse can't do anything, and the ship it uses moves very fast to the point where it's impossible to aim. Yes, the ScummVM group did a great job bringing this title to the source port, however, look how cool it is... Exactly on the same level (Zone 3 - Oxygen Apporach) the game crashes with an "APPCRASH" error (version 2.7.1 of ScummVM and in this version the mouse behaves better) and there is nothing that can be done so far. So be warned! To recap, in DOSBox (GOG version) the ship is impossible to control using the mouse, and in SummVM you will be greeted with a delightful "APPCRASH"! Damn, developers, fix this game to work correctly through the MOUSE! And for you, my player friend, I leave the following message: Do as I do and don't waste your precious money on this until it is fixed.

X-Com: Enforcer

Unnecessary hate...

People hate this entry, and it's just stupid! This is a good game with good old arcade gameplay. The stages are fast-paced with LOTS of enemies and technologies (weapons and upgrades) to collect and unlock as you progress. The Enforcer (yes, that's the character's name) also has some cool skins available to give it a unique look. And speaking of internships, there are many! So, don't pay attention to the negative reviews, BUY this great X-COM as soon as possible and let's hunt LOTS of aliens! I was almost forgetting... This is one of the creations of the Unreal engine and it looks great running on nGlide 2.10, unfortunately the GOG version comes with an obsolete version of nGlide. Finally, I want to leave a friendly message for the haters... "Take THIS to your Leader!" XD
