Stubbs the Zombie in Rebel Without a Pulse

Fun for a 4 year old for a few minutes

Fun for a few minutes, until the "Simon says" 'dance' mini-game which is a complete disaster, nullifying any and all enjoyment up to that point, showing not only 'the cracks in design', but rather shows the complete lack of any kind of imagination, rendering this game about as soulless and empty as its protagonist and subsequently the people behind it.

Pizza Connection

One of the best multiplayer experiences!

How in the world GOG fail to mention that this is a Single/Multiplayer game is beyond my comprehension - this is one of the finest Hotseat Multiplayer games available on the market and I have spent decades playing this with friends of all sort. The sequels don't have squat to do with this game; This is Pizza Tycoon (in Europe) a one-of-a-kind multiplayer Hotseat (i.e. by the same computer) strategy game, about making pizzas, smuggling weapons, drugs and getting rid of the opponents, all the while expanding your empire and coming up with new brilliant recipes for your restaurants. Worth every penny.

ELEX

A natural successor

Piranha Bytes has perfected the formula, running from Gothic 1-3 and Risen 1-3; you are Hero. There are three factions at war, on a continent. You choose with whom to ally. You roam around an incredibly detailed world, with believable characters, with schedules and daily toils. There is a huge, living, breathing world waiting for you to explore it and unfold its riches. It is filled with creatures and NPC's whom will make short work of you, if you're not well-equipped, or skilled enough. You have a jet-pack that allows you to 'fly/float' for a short while, helping you reach those just-out-of-reach cliffs, etc. There is a good enough story, which does not matter as much, due to overall awesome game-play. This is not Skyrim <--- you do not become "Ultimate Badass (tm)" within the first 5 hours of the game. It takes time, dedication and *skill*, this is made by Piranha Bytes, after all. It looks gorgeous and very atmospheric. It is everything you'd expect it to be, if you have played any of the Gothic or Risen -games, with the addition of science fiction and jet-pack.

Eschalon: Book I

Fits right on my shelf.

Eschalon emulates and celebrates Old School cRPG's as in those from "The Golden Age of cRPG's (1985-1993), basically 'pre-Baldur's Gate', which, I suspect, is why a lot of people seem to have difficult grasping the core concept of Eschalon; much like the Bard's Tale series, early to mid Wizardry series, early to mid Ultima series, Times of Lore, Early GoldBox titles; it keeps things rather 'plain and simple' and focus more on the world-building and atmosphere Sure it doesn't have the depth of the Ultima series, nor the dungeons of the Wizardry series, or the class-system of Bard's Tale; but Eschalon brings its own flavor to the table and feels somewhat like Times of Lore, in terms of 'adventure', mixed with some Ultima, in terms of world-building and oozes of atmosphere, much like the Goldbox games, add to that a rather 'nifty' class-system, within the games' limitations (cartographer, as many have mentioned, is an interesting addition, as being a skill) All in all, I believe that Eschalon is a fine example of the 'spirit' of The Golden Age of cRPG's done right: it's not overly complex, nor is it just another dungeon-crawling hack'n'slash; it's that fine middle-ground; a game you can spend however long you feel like, just soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying decent gameplay to a decent story With regards to music and sound effects, they are simply brilliant and truly evokes some sort of nostalgic sensation - perhaps due to the sparsity and simpleness, but there's something to it that just feels 'right' Graphics-wise I personally find it to be very enjoyable pixel-art and although you're basically stuck with 800x600 (16bit, or 32bit color), it more than does the job, especially for me who am playing it on a CRT I would recommend this to any and all of you who enjoyed the cRPG's of the 80's to early 90's - this 'fits right in there on the shelf', with other perhaps less remembered, classics of a time before Baldur's Gate, Fallout and Daggerfall came about
