Hacknet

A Charming Plot-driven Hacking Game

Hacknet is by far my favourite attempt at creating an immersive hacking game. It manages to weave an engaging high-stakes story with solid (albeit repetitive) gameplay that'll keep you hooked all the way through. The UI is sharp, sleek, and quick to learn, with the terminal being powerful enough to replace all of it once you're skilled enough. Hacknet's OST is phenominal; it includes electronic/synthwave music from artists such as Carpenter Brut, Tonspender and Cinematrik. Unfortunately the game's let down by a few game-breaking softlocks, but if you avoid accepting more than one mission at a time there shouldn't be any issues. Despite its minor bugs and oversights, Hacknet is a fun and consistent experience that's definitely worth the cost. (Plus extensions basically give you an endless supply of new campaigns from the community, what's not to love?)
