Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun

Good history, mediocre replay value

This game is pretty similar to Commandos. I spend around 40 hours to finish the game, and let me say I had pretty good moments and I couldn't avoid to fall in love with Yuki mechanics and character. I was thinking japanese things wouldn't hook me, how wrong I was. This game is really well done, and feel solid. It has lot of support for differents devices (like eye tracking, or a good gamepad implementation), and I didn't miss any QoL feature. The music is pretty good too, it creates that magic ambience. I got this for free, because to be honest, I would never purchase a tittle like this one. But after finishing the game, I'm thinking into purchase Aiko's Choose (the second part of this game), which is DRM free avaliable here in GOG. The only thing I'd say it fails, it's in its replay value. After suffering a lot in some levels, I would never think into play them again. Achivements do not add enough replay value for me, but they are welcome. And again, I'm a Yuki fan :)

Hollow Knight

Very well done, but bad experience

This game is gem. It's really well done. But for me, it's hard as hell, I suffered a lot until I beat it. It has a lot of content, you will be retrying lots of combat and platforming.

Crypt of the NecroDancer

Don't expect to play a lot of hours

I purchased this game because it was cheap and I like roguelikes. This one is nice and well done, but the lastest levels are a bit difficult. After playing ten hours, I don't find myself wanting to play it anymore, it bores me.

Redout: Solar Challenge Edition

You will bore soon

Despite the good graphics and controllers support (even Razer keyboard), I don't find any motivation to play anymore after 5-6 hours of game play. The campaign for me is becoming too hard (I'm stuck), and the control of the ship is hard. I don't mind the difficulty, while it seems fun, but this wasn't the case in my opinion.

Dicey Dungeons

Fun game, manageable RNG

I was waiting a lot for this game. After I finished it (all chapters, the 95% of the achivements and the halloween update), I can say it gives you so many good moments. There also bad moments until you understand how to play the character (Witch!). It's good that way the game let you love it in the first levels. Has a little number of sound tracks, but its very well done and it doesn't become repetitive. The controller support is a good plus. And the best of the game is that the harder a level become for each character, you have a complete set of new rules, and when I say new rules, is that they are sooooo different that they seem a new game. It's NOT just +10% of HP, everything changes. However, the bad is that it's too short. I was expecting more replay value, but after 50 hours of gameplay, it doesn't motivate me to start again. There aren't fun+multiple ways to beat each game as Slay the Spire. Does I recommend it? Yes. 50 hours for 10€ (5€ on sales) does worth it. And quality hours, not grinding hours. It's a solid game.

Ghost 1.0

Fun and emotional

I loved this game, it's well balanced and the story is very nice (a bit predictable if you know something about chemicals). The control is fine, and the voice acting is VERY good. I was charmed by my characters. The only reason I don't give it a 5/5 (should be 4.5/5) is that hardest boss is the first one, and you need to grind a bit for it, for a normal skilled player. Then you think you need to grind for others, but you don't (at least, you don't need too much), since you don't need all weapons or objects. I only unlocked 20% or less. This game, since it's an story, has low replay value. But it worth!! Ghost, Jacker and Booger, I will miss you!

Darkest Dungeon®

Nice begging, boring ending

NOTE: For me, a normal game should have 3 stars, and a perfect, ultra-replayable game, 5 stars. I only review after completing the game. This game starts very interesting, you manage a team of characters with several types and skills, and a small village with several features. The missions are pretty hard, you have a feeling of "wow, that was close". Some characters need resting one week, and maybe you need him, so a dilema starts. This was fun, the firsts 20h. However, once you have a big team (mid game), you may switch your mindset to, lets try a difficult level, or lets grind. In the first case, you have all the cards to die miserabely. With the second mindset the missions will stop to becoming a challenge soon. You always do the same. The more advanced is the game, the less variety of artifacts and strategies you need to use, except for some bosses. Once you reach the end of the game, the final boss is really easy, much easier than their previous bosses and challenges. The graphics are really nice, and pretty dynamics. The music is awesome but from time to time you will need to stop it, it's always the same. And the ambience is great. The control is very good with mouse/keyboard, but not perfect with gamepad. After seeing that addons only add dungeons and more kind of heroes, I prefered do not purchase them: I wanted to finish the game with all its internal achivements, not extend the grinding. Purchase only if you love TBS+management games and you don't mind grinding... a lot! I finished it in 104 hours in my first game run.

Grim Dawn

Good atmosphere, repetitive, lack tactic

I'm a pretty honest review, I only write one once I've finished at least once the game, and I don't give 5 stars to any good game. 1 star = avoid, 3 star = decent, 5 = must play and replay, a classic. I think my time is valuable, so, does it worth the money/time to finish and replay this game? This is the review without DLC. The good: - Nice graphics atmosphere, I really feel terrified in a level due to it. - Lots of different builds and mixed classes. - You can build guns or melee in almost any character. - Gamepad support. - Good music! - Lots of gear to equip your character. - DLCs if you want more. The bad: - In my first run, I just picked and maxed a couple of skill with the arcanist and I won the game with them = boring. - The music, while it's good, lack some variety. - While there are a lot of classes, I don't feel any appeal to replay the game again, I played it twice. The skills are pretty similar between classes. - You will spend a lot of time comparing gear, and you will feel a little lost about what to max, the in game description of skills lack some basic information. - The monster of each zone respawn with each game replay. - A little grinding is need to max your reputation with some factions. - Factions are generally banal. You almost do not have choice. - The final boss is really weak and boring. - There is no ending. I had good moments playing this game, but I do not like it enough to purchase their DLCs. The most of time I was going in autopilot mode. I enabled my brain only when I wanted to distribute my skill points or decide which gear should I wear. If you liked Diablo or Diablo 2, you will like this one. I didn't played Diablo 3 to compare.

Broforce

Fun game, a bit short.

NOTE: I barely gives 5 stars to a game. 3 stars is a good game, 5 is a top quality and must have and play game. I vote in this way because your time is valuable. I liked a lot this game, it was really fun playing with different characters, tons of actions, and some lucky moments. I loved the graphics and the music, even the playability. And it that wasn't enough, it places a big smile on my face. I really love when the developers do some humor like this in their games. I do not want to spoil you, but it have some epic cutscenes and lots of details that nowadays big games misses. However, the game (Normal mode) was a bit short for me (10 hours). I didn't tried its multiplayer because all rooms where private ones, but I'm sure it's fun. If you need some action, this is one of the best games I've played long time ago.
