Fantasy Wars

way too hard

When there are 3 difficulty levels, one being "easy", you should be able to play the game without having too much trouble, but that is not the case.

Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest

Fun but short

I really enjoyed all parts of the game. The battles remined me of Blackguard, they are turn-based, but involve more than just taking turns attacking each other. There are environment objects you can interact with, bonus objectives that you can achieve for additional rewards, sometimes you need to protect someone, sometimes you need to escape to exit. Some missions are also just puzzles you have to solve. The couple complaints I have is it was very short, I completed everything in like 19 hours, and I really do not see any replayability. There is not really anything I can do differently if I start over a second time.

Ascension to the Throne

Diamond in the rough

Never heard of this before, but it was cheap so I bought it. When I first started playing it, I had a very hard time. I made a couple wrong choices and very quickly found myself at a point where I could not even continue the game. I found very little help online to see what I was doing wrong, and was close to giving up. However, the game falls in the group of the type of game I would like, so I really wanted to play it. I decided to start over again, and I made some different choices, then was able to continue on. Very quickly I started realizing the flow of the game, and it started getting easier to play. I am somewhere around mid game right now and I am still loving the game. I love turn-based combat, and I think this one does it very well. I recommend the game, and my main advice is if you have trouble, just try a different approach. The game does not lock you into doing things in an exact order, so if you have trouble with a battle, go back to it later.

XCOM® 2

Love this game

I have played the game through twice so far. Enjoy the upgrading of soldiers and equipment, and the variety in the different soldier types. I like that you get the psi operative later on, so right when you are starting to get a little bored with the same type of attacks over and over, you get the psi operative with a whole new set of abilities. Don't want any spoilers so will not get into any details, but I felt the end of the game was very fulfilling. I love games that have turn-based combat so that made the game all the better. I will probably wait a few months then play the game a third time at a higher difficulty and see how that goes.

The Bard's Tale IV: Director's Cut - Standard Edition

Surprisingly good RPG

I am still playing the game, 58 hours into it, and I am really enjoying the game. I love the combat. It is turn based with a grid. You will find that different skills have synergy, and when you combine them you can maximize your use of opportunities during combat (number of actions you can take). Its not just about what skill is better, its what skill will work well with the skills your other party members have. I also love the puzzles. There are some standard ones that require you to do certain things in a certain order, but others are much more involved and more fun. You have lots of flexibility in your party since you can swap different members in and out of the active party, and also have the ability to reset skills which is very nice. Great game!!! I highly recommend it.
