Baldur's Gate 3

The best Larian game.

I'm not a DnD player, but I've played and completed both Divinity Original Sin games, and I've played some of the older Divinity games, so I can confidently say that I find Baldur's Gate 3 to be the best RPG that Larian has released. The reason for that? The writing. Baldur's Gate 3's writing is just so good. The world is interesting, I care about the characters, the dialogue is great, etc. The writing is easily up there with The Witcher 3 and Enderal's writing, plus the magnificent voice acting and cutscenes elevate the already great writing to loftier heights. The rest of the game is great too. If you liked the combat in the Divinity OS series, you'll probably like the combat in this game, however it is different because it is an adaptation of the DnD 5e combat. The world is fun to explore, easily improved on prior Larian world and map design. Quests feel like they have the most freedom out of any Larian game. I could go on about all the reasons this game is great, but you don't need me to. It's not a perfect game by any means, it does have issues. But since most of the negatives are just nitpicks, I won't really go into them. This game is easily up there with Skyrim, The Witcher 3, Enderal, etc. So go and play this already!

TUNIC

A really good Zelda/Souls inspired game.

I was going to wait to buy this game, but eventually just decided to buy it anyways. It is really fun, and it does enough to be distinct from it's inspiration. I only have a few gripes with the game: 1. Dodging feels a bit sluggish, which isn't the best in a Soulslike/Soulslite. I'm sure with time, I could get used to the dodging, but coming from Dark Souls, it just feels off. 2. Lack of achievements on GoG. This isn't a make or break for me, but Steam has achievements, so the developers have already defined them, they just need to implement them on GoG. I'm not going to pretend to know how that works on both Steam and GoG, but I can't imagine the implementation of achievements is too different. 3. I wish we could rotate the camera. I know that this might "break" the game, but it would make finding hidden chests a bit easier/convenient.

Obduction ®

A fun adventure puzzle game

I got Obduction for free from a GOG.com giveaway. I had never played a adventure game like Myst, so when I loaded it up I was a bit unsure of it. There seemed to be nothing to interact with. So I kept pushing forward. I eventually got to Hunrath and was blown away by the visuals. Obduction is a pretty game. I explored Hunrath for a bit until I met C.W. He gave me an objective: turn the power on. From this point, the game just clicked with me. I kept playing through it until the credits rolled. I didn't really understand the nuances of the story, so when we made it back to Earth I was confused why everything was dead. Overall it was a fun game.

Crysis®

A must own PC FPS

Crysis starts off amazingly. From the moment you drop into the world you know that this isn't like any other shooter. Rather than playing through linear levels, like in most modern shooters, you are placed in large maps with multiple routes through them and multiple objectives. There are many ways to get through a level including: being stealthy, running and gunning, going for environmental kills, etc. However this changes at the halfway point. After you clear your first overarching goal, the levels become really linear and the tactics mentioned above aren't all that important. It's fun, but it's a sudden change. There are a few levels that players may find frustrating, but I didn't have any issues with them. Regardless of the flaws I still wholeheartedly recommend this game.

Oxenfree

A fun little adventure

I was pleasantly surprised when I really got into this game. The intro to it starts off slow, but after you get into the caves you start to see what the game has to offer. I enjoyed the dialogue system a lot. It was simplistic but some of the choices you make affect the game later on. The radio mechanic was cool because it wasn't just a simple tune into the correct frequency. There were some frequencies that just added to the overall mechanic. The story was fun, but it wasn't as "scary" as I thought it would try to be. ==SPOILERS== I really enjoyed the mirror mechanic. At first I didn't think much of it but once I saw myself talking to Alex through the mirror I applauded the game. It's something so small that you won't think much of it, but it just makes the game a little more personal.
