Having played the original in my childhood, I can say it doesn't capture the same feeling, but it does a great job standing on its own with a complex game system that keeps you hooked and some freedom of movement between missions. The world is immersive, beautiful, and makes even walking around a treat if you're a fan of Eastern architecture and landscapes. My only nag is the lack of witty replies from Wang, a lot of the fun of the classic was in those, there could have been more, and with a better tone of voice. The voice actor sounds like a silly gangster instead of the insane gun-toting samurai we knew and loved from the classic.
