Could have been great

This game feels very unfortunate. It has a lot of charm, great artwork and neat little ideas. But the game ultimately deytroys itself by being too grindy. Tried it for almost 7 hours and had 2 points were I already wanted to quite before. I am no stranger to grindy games. In fact I actually enjoy and play them A LOT... if they are well done. This isnt. I gave this one a shot despite the bad reviews because it looked like a type of game I was looking for. However, I should have listened to the negative reviews. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this. I wish I could, but I didnt even make it to the 10 hour mark and that says a lot for this type of game.

DUSK

Absolutely fantastic!

To make it short: If you are into fast paced and atmospheric shooters I highly recommand this game to you. It's cheap even if it isnt on sale and it is worth every cent/penny. It's highly addictive, has a great atmosphere and amazing sound and art design. The graphics are obviously an hommage to the 90s shooter era like DooM and such. The soundtrack and sound design are a treat. Do yourself a favor and play it with headphones if you can. The gameplay is pretty much straight forward and thats what works the best for such a game in my opinion. There is still some depth to some weapons but nothing too crazy. The map design is also incredible. You got everything covered from mazes to big open spaces. Some of them even blew me away with how gorgeous they were. All in all I really dont have anything bad to say about this game if I'm being perfectly honest. If you are looking for a simple, yet fun and highly addictive, fast paced shooter with great atmosphere? Look no more.

Sin Slayers

Just a tiny bit too grindy for me.

First off i have to mention that i did not finish the game (about 10 hours in/finished the 3rd act) It just became a little too grindy for me after a while. The combat also gets stale pretty soon after you have your prefered team comp. Which is unfortunate. However, everything leading up to that point was pretty fun though. The game is a small RPG with round based combat. You have a big varianty of heroes to unlock and pick from and there are quests for you to complete. And the maps (dungeons) you enter to explore have a tile grid you move on (Like a boardgame). Which I thought was pretty interesting. I liked the overall visuals aswell (i am a sucker for retro/pixel/8bit graphics). All in all there is not much to say about Sin Slayers. It is a fairly small game. Which is totally fine. Games dont have to last 50h+ for me. And i personally welcome that. I enjoyed it a lot until it wore itself out due to the grind and repetitiveness. I really wanted to give this game at least 4 stars. Because i really enjoyed it. However the fact that it eventually bored me to the point where i couldnt finish it is kind of a dealbreaker for me. I'd still recommand it if you want something light and casual to play on the side. Just dont expect too much. Thanks for reading! Have a great day.

STAR WARS™ Republic Commando

Still holds up!

I've played STAR WARS™ Republic Commando for the very first time a couple of days ago. And too make it short: This game holds up really well and i highly recommend it to every Star Wars Fan. You play as the leader of special ops clone trooper squad. You work your way through (mostly) linear levels. You lead your team, direct your squad and complete objectives in various missions. The game is about 15 years old by now. So there is not much to add in terms of graphics. But when it comes to gameplay it plays really well and smooth. Especially considering the age of the game. It is also pretty dang difficult (for me personally at least) if i might add. I had a few frustrating moments but that also might have been just me being bad at the game. Who knows? One last side note I want to add: I had some technical issues with the game. Meaning: I had a few crashes throughout my almost 10 hours. So you should keep that in mind and save the game frequently. Other than that i didnt have really much to complain. It took me about 10 hours to finish it. It was really fun and i can highly recommend it. Delta out!
