Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

One of the greatest CRPGs of all time

Still some way behind the original Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 but obviously due to both time and technical developments it is much more modern and has better quality of life. It is very different but imho much better than Baldurs Gate 3, thanks to the 5ed rules that BG3 uses. The good: expansive game that is a very long CRPG with many storyline pathways for replayability. In short, actions actually have consequences. More MC customisable options than you will know what to do with. (both of these points can also be weaknesses, more on this later) Alot of teammates to recruit each with different playstyles and the chance to go "off script" with their builods. You can recruit mercs if that is not sufficient. Many difficulties ranging from story/casual for those who don't want to deal with the complex rules or don't have the time, to Impossible for the hardcore meta players. Music is good, mods are readily available and the community is thriving, voice acting is good and the story too. The downsides: The game for some, will be too expansive. I have sunk a ridicolous number of hours in this game. In excess of 2k hours. Turnbased mode you can expect around 400 hours for a completionist first time playthrough being reduced to around 120 hours in realtime style. The absurd number of character classes is intimidating in the first instance. Iirc I believe I spent around 6 hours just in character creation trying to figure stuff out. The tooltips aren't amazing at explaining some of the more offbeat classes. Two ways to simplify this is stick to a traditional class for a first playthorugh. And for a a class you are unsure of hire a merc to learn more about it, that way you won't break the game so to speak. Either way there is an ingame option to reset characters but this costs an increasing amount of money in addition to becoming unavailable late game or on harder difficulties.

Absolute Tactics: Daughters of Mercy

Good game with flaws

For those who have played games like Disgaea or Final Fantasy Tactics. You know what to expect here. The gameplay is a meld of the two games albeit simplified. It utilises a class system where the npcs can equip two classes at once. The maps contain secret treasures and you can interact with the terrain to get advantages over your enemies. Why 3 stars? The gameplay is solid enough, music is decent the voice acting is good enough, the story is decent but the game is hampered with millenial cringe dialogue and writing that is out of place for a fantasy setting. It's overly frequent but occurs enough to take you out of the immersion. Shame really The UI could also use some improvements..

Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition

Contains DRM

Contains an inavsive DRM software called Punkbuster. The whole reason I purchase games on GOG is to avoid this practice. The store page advertises games as DRM free very clearly. This is shameful.

Elminage Gothic

Old Fashioned Dungeon Romp

This game plays like the old school games such as eye Of The Beholder or Wizardy series. It's done well where the primary emphasis is on having fun. There are the traditional classes along with some interesting newer ones such as Samurai, Ninja & Valkyrie. There are traditional races as well as novel ones such as Fairies, Beastmen, Lizardmen & Hotlets (whatever they are). Game could use some improvements it's not very intuitive and the manual doesn't help, so there is a learning curve with regards to how the works. Having a tooltip or something similar would help. It doesn't detract from the gameplay however and once you get used to it you won't even consider this anymore.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Enhanced Edition

Not Sure How To Put This...

I have a rig that breezes the game requirements. All the files seem to be in order upon installation. And yet I can't even arrive to the main menu UI as I get stuck on a perma load upon booting the game. I have no in-game experience. Nothing. I have managed to find some reports using google that show EA users had this problem in early May. How this has not been addressed is beyond me. Very disappointing. I don't like to leave reviews as a rule but this is quite literally unplayable as it stands now.
