This game is fun. There, that's it. What you want more? Certainly. Curious Expedition is a deeply frustrating game to play. Inspired by the roguelikes of old, there is permadeath and should your character die at any point through the six-expedition long campaign you just have to start over again. This has caused me no end of frustration and rage-quits. However, I keep coming back for another attempt, and that's not nothing. I recommend it, it's a fun little game with lots of heart that will murder you repeatedly, and still have you coming back for just one more round. And look out for tigers!
This promise of a dark and twisted experience is greatly twarted by very poor game design. The game feel doesn't do anyone any favours, and unless you crank the lighting up so high that all the scares are lost you won't see what's going on, and will find yourself tumbling into the firs abyss. This is an admirable effort, but all the atmospheric vision is undermined by mediocre design that leaves the final product frustrating and annoying to play, as nothing feels all that good to control, or to navigate. It feels like playing an early beta of what may one day be a decent game but as it stands, neither the controls, the gamefeel or the level design are up to scruff. It's a mediocre game. Beyond the poor gameplay, the game is also not very unique there are several others games in the grim pseudo-walking sim with supernatural elements and nudity, and you might be better of with one of those. I can't reccomend this game to anyone.
