Every now and then a game comes along that just appeals to you in pretty much every single way and this is that game for me, but maybe not for everyone. I have played about 170 hours (not all of that is my main play though- but most of it) and haven’t finished it yet. That’s down to a combination of taking my time, trying to explore everything, and just experimenting with a bunch of different classes in separate play throughs. People have talked to death about the games rocky start to life and having played it then and now it’s definitely been put right. If you like baldurs gate style games, then this is a modern and very well done game of the same kind. It can be daunting at first if you (like me) have no background experience with the pathfinder rule set but just find yourself a class guide to get you started and everything will click into place for you pretty quickly. Highly recommend to people who like the sorts of games.
New class, race and companion adds slot to the game and I will surely play through again making use of all 3 added elements in full. I see afew comments about the price of this DLC versus buying other complete games or what not, but each to their own, the DLC is flavour only - completely optional.
I am a guy that lives RPGs, but buys far more than he plays! I bought the original baldurs gate on CD (remember those?) when it first came out but rarely played it. So a couple of days ago I decided to blast through this on Story Mode so I could get the story and not take overly long to complete it. I wasn’t interested in combat being challenging or dragging my play through out as I knew my attention span wouldn’t tolerate a long play. Overall I think it was quite well done in terms of the story but not wonderful. It seemed to spring the plot “twist” on you very suddenly which I found to be odd. I base my rating purely on the story quality and for the age of the game the story was not only engaging but also delivered well through game play and cutscenes etc. Definitely worth a look and story mode to me made the dates graphics and mechanics a non issue.
Just finished the game, and it was ok but not amazing. It had a good enough story but to me the game itself was average at best. Following the story and exploring the various areas was ok, albeit very linear. The enemies in the game to me feel really poorly done. Almost like they were thrown in at the last minute just to give you something else to think about, but because they were so predictable they felt like they got in the way and distracted you from the exploration (which was fun) more than they actually contributed to the game. 6 to 7 out of 10 for me.
A game with alot of potential that is by no means wonderful. Production wise its good (gfx, sound, narration, nailed the western theme etc) but to me it has some issues aswell: * Its not a continuous story that you play through, its 8 scenarios. Sure some of them reuse the same main character and follow on from eachother, but not all. Personally I didnt like this approach. * The "Map mode" to me is really boring and not well done. This is where you move a marker around the map to pre-defined locations (ie: drive the game essentially). At each location you will be presented with dialog and given different options on what you can do. Some situations result in missions (woohoo!) others simply reward or penalise you for the decision you made. You also interact with vendors using these map locations to buy equipment or guns. Overall its fun, but again it leaves me feeling it could be alot better.
Firstly let me just say that if you think Nox is like Diablo then you must also think Amnesia is like Doom. The games are chalk and cheese. Nox is an adventure action game that offers you 3 playable classes (Warrior, Conjurer, Wizard) that each have their own unique story for you to play through. The primary objective of Nox is to finish the story and high five yourself. Its not a loot grind, and the "levels" you play through don't just hurl monsters at you for the sake of it in stupid quantities. Whilst the story isn't exactly complex, it is still good enough to get you hooked and make you want to see it through to the end. All up its just a really fun game to play through that was ahead of its time when released, but under appreciated. Enjoy
