PROS: - looks amazing and optimization is top notch - great looking reflections without overrated RT - kept original Mafia essence - story and character progression - fun cars and driving - easter eggs from that era - some boring parts were cut... CONS: - ...also some parts that help with the atmosphere were cut - no original music and this feels generic compared to original - free ride is sripped - crashed a few times at random; sometimes paused cut-scene kept playing audio - driving a bit more forgiving compared to the original (on simulation) - where are Bertone's missions?
...doesn't mean you're useful. Ok it's not ALL bad, I've played this on Steam early access but the game tries to be 'souls like' of ARPG and is heavy physics based - again, with top-down classic ARPG concept. And that is its problem and also makes it unique. It's as clumsy as it sounds. You get stuck to objects, turn like Titanic and so on. All with your mouse. You just can't get the required control with your mouse and difficulty is very steep. Unlike Elden Ring for example it's hard to 'git gud' unless developer reworks the concept. But I fear it's too late for that. Right now it's a proof of concept. Take it as you will, you might like it.
- big and beautiful map - not much to interact with - respawning enemies - repetitive tasks (don't forget malaria) After first FarCry this game was a beautiful step back and marked open word repetitive gameplay loop that stands in Ubi games to this day. Some people praise it looking through pink glasses, but I remember it for what it was since it got out, great looking boring simpleton that sold well making them stop with what they were good at (PoP, Beyond Good & Evil, XIII etc.). If you MUST have it, wait for a deep sale.
!! IMPORTANT !! I see that many users complain about it not working, tested working on Win10 and Win11: 1) Install https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/24302?tab=description 2) OPTIONAL: Install tons of mods and enjoy your game (use mod organizer for mods install) You're welcome. Regarding the game; some loved it, some had mixed feelings calling it "Oblivion with guns". I personally still enjoy it, however, a warm recommendation is to add lots of new locations and some quests/companions via the "A World Of Pain for Fallout 3" mod. Compared to washed down F4, this is a masterpiece where F4 does better only with graphics and gunplay.
PROS: - setting, this game just blends sci-fi and occult in the most perfect way - combat (when not ruined by issues) is very "meaty" and tactical - random events (pay attention to that "clock" in the top left) add new level of terror to an already difficult game - loot CONS: Well I'll rather describe it here why I gave up on it even though it was the most interesting "souls" game to me; A.I. is often stupid in a way that it runs towards you in a straight line and gets stuck, platforming parts of map are sometimes problematic because character control lacks finesse for precision movement, but the worst; I uninstalled on 3rd boss (first double trouble). There are still glitches there when the one that can do ranged attacks can sometimes shoot through the walls. This made me very angry as combat makes no sense when unfair; died 2 times to study their patterns (2nd time ranged shot through walls) and then on the 3rd try he could should through the walls again, did my best to avoid (I'm not a Souls newbie) and died as 1 boss was down and their total health had only 10% left. Then I died because I rushed still frustrated from glitch in previous try and 5th time it happened again and that's when I decided it's not worth it with all the good points. In conclusion even with visible smaller budget, this game would be an easy recommendation and 4/5 IF issues were fixed.
+ Quests; main ones are long and interesting; side have such interesting surprises + Night City; you can tell how much time they must have put designing this neon dystopia + Graphics (PC; provided you have at least 2080Ti or 3070 to see it in all of it's glory + Sound; weapons sound "pounchy"; music is great, especially ambiental during certain missions or plot areas + many likeable NPC-s + relationships development (both with people you care about and progress with mr. Breathtaking + happy it kept the Deus Ex vibe even when being an open work game + leveling system upgrade from W3 - many, many glitches (didn't have a single crash and game-breaking bug in my 70h luckily - performance; even with Nasa PC there are areas where it drops into high 30-s at 2K - main story is about 10h too short - not enough very deep dystopian philospohical issues (there are some) - A.I. of NPC-s and traffic (just feels like they were cutting corners
Let me put it simple. SS2 is the best PC game ever. Inventory, character development, mostly non-linear level progress, great plot twists, very emotional, atmospheric, horror elements, guns, cyberpunk. This game has it all. It is designed very clever and you need to explore a lot. Audio logs explain story in very subtle, yet high impact way. We got spiritual successor in form of Bioshock, but in terms of gameplay it was miles away from this masterpiece. If you play this for the first time - I envy you... Everything said about story is just spoiling, so do not wait. Grab this PC diamond and have an adventure of your life.
