Simon the Sorcerer 4: Chaos Happens

A Miserable Load of Rubbish

This was genuinely one of the very worst P&C adventure games ever made. Let us enumerate some of the issues: 1) Awful localization. The translation from German to English was apparently done by running the text through Google Translate into random languages a few times before finally going to English. 2) All of the charm and cleverness of the previous Simon games is gone. Didn't even chuckle once. 3) Lousy puzzles. Just a bunch of use x on x puzzles really, nothing remotely creative, and half of them barely make sense. 4) Painfully uninteresting characters. I guess they were supposed to be funny or something, but the new characters generally come of as either brain damaged, or intensely unlikable. Returning characters (including Simon) are butchered. So yeah, you are much better off just playing the first two games in the series, which are extremely well done. Play this if you have some kind of fetish for self-punishment.

Quest for Glory 1-5

The Best

Quest for Glory is among the very greatest series of all time. I cannot recommend them highly enough. These games seamlessly integrate the gameplay of classic point and click adventures with traditional RPG mechanics and combat. Not only does each game contain a distinctive path for each of the three classes, they also each have a distinctive and wonderful atmosphere that has rarely been matched. You owe it to yourself to play these.
