From someone who never got to play the original. As a kid in the 2000's I had the pleasure of playing parts of some of the old RE games over at a friend's house. I was a big fan of zombies and all things horror but sadly never had the opportunity to finish an RE game front to back until the 2019 RE2 remake, which then completely hooked me on the franchise. I've played many RE games since but the original RE3 remained elusive until I found out about this port. Not only is playing this game a shotgun blast of old school RE nostalgia, it is also just a ton of fun right off the bat. I've always needed a little adjusting time when going back to the older games and often found myself needing to push through some of their more dated qualities and controls before I could settle in and enjoy them. This game? Not one issue, I was immediately into it and having so much fun even while I was still adjusting to the tank controlls. Because the game wastes's no time getting right into the action and exploration, any struggle you might have with tank controls and fixed camera angles is made more engaging rather than an obstacle. The atmosphere is great, it's fun to explore and it's perfectly tense when it needs to be. If you've never played any of the old Resident Evil games before I highly recommend giving this one a shot.
