Legend has it this has been handed over to Monolith as a nearly finished product from 3D Realms. This is one of the classic build engine games featuring a very interesting arsenal and a great level design. The effort that went into this game is amazing. This is the very definition of 90s technological boundaries being pushed to its limits as well as dark graphical design that may appear to be gray at times, then again setting up a very unique horror theme. The revised version can be iffy at times but a lot f hard work has gone into making this happen on modern systems. This is something thats considered a role model for many retro styled FPS being created today, but not many can actually reproduce the eerie atmosphere. The difficulty level can be tedious, then again mouselook and strafing gives you a bit of an edge compared to 1997 control schemes. I played this back in the early 2000s and will come back to it every once in a while. A great port worth its price.
As a long fan of the genre - games, movies, books, I want to love this game. I love the small and big things, I love the plot, I love the setting. BUT at this stage the game glitches out and crashes. Im not running it on latest and greatest harwdare and this is probably a part of it. But it will get fixed, sooner or later. I have high hopes for the future and will continue to play despite the issues. Theres a lot of work to make this game happen but it is under way. Please make this work. I need Cyberpunk in my life and Eidos was the last stand that failed with Inspector Gadget reboot.
Rozczarowanie.
This is hands down the best retro shooter made using the build engine. It does not pretend to be retro, it is what would be done with best hands on deck back in the late 90s. The game has the imperfections of Ken Silvermans engine which makes it the real thing. Levels are huge and contain amazing detail. Weapons are properly scaled. The amount of easter eggs and popculture references is ludacris. Drawbacks? The difficulty is pretty 90s, the game doesnt hold back. If you consider this an issue. And no multiplayer. I would enjoy that.
