I'm a new player who started after launch, so I'm writing from a new player perspective, I believe i gave the game a fair try, and its the worst new player experience I've had in a multiplayer game. The game is heavily overdesigned with 'creative' mechanics that make it pretty tedious. The tutorial does not do a good job of explaining even a tenth of the abilities and mechanics. The starter decks are very bad, getting the resources for cards is a very slow process. People keeping their stuff from the beta test is a very weird decision, this leads to new player being at a terrible disadvantage. A fact that is somewhat mitigated in the Arena (which has is own problems). I'm not gonna write about that game mode, because I only managed to stomach about 20 matches there, so I don't have the experience. After you manage to get some resources, designing a deck is incredibly hard. The ability descriptions are convoluted, some abilities are extremely unclear. Even if you manage to figure some synergy out, the odds are, unless you spend cash from the very beginning, you won't have the cards or materials to realize it. My biggest problem with the game is: The matches are incredibly slow, compounded by the fact that you have to read each card very carefully, because misplays are very easy to make. Its incredibly furstrating when after a 20 min match, that appears mostly even, in round 3, the enemy plays a deus ex machina card that moves the score with 20 or more points, making the stratedy you've built up to this point pointless. This keeps happening (I'd say half my matches) - maybe its the metagame or I still don't get the mechanics. I've sunk 20ish hours and I don't plan on wasting any more time on this. I had higher expectations for the game made by the Witcher developer.
